There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Laser Alignment help needed

Hello All,

I've read many of the threads here about laser alignment. I have a couple of questions that I can't find the answers to. First, How long does a laser alignment last? It seems obvious to me that your laser alignment would only last until the rear tire needs to be replaced or any belt tension or tracking adjustment is made. Is this correct? Second, the service manual (2015 RT Limited) states that after alignment you must carry out a Steering Angle Sensor Reset, and a Torque Sensor Reset. Do the shops do this normally? Third, do they allow for the weight of a driver and normal front compartment load to be at the correct ride height as per the service manual? Fourth, would a necessary alignment not be a warranty item?

Laser questions

So long as the tires are replaced and the axle adjusters are not moved, we have checked SpyderAnn's alignment after 50,000 miles, and it was fine. 4 or 5 rear tires replaced.
The belts don't stretch. BUDS must be reset after an alignment.
The alignment takes into account riders and cargo weight.
Is not a warrantee item.
Like a car, if you don't hit something and knock it out of alignment, it will be fine.

I would assume a reputable dealer would reset buds when doing alignment? Is that a question one should ask them prior to having it done?

The first question you should ask is do they have the Rolo/True Laser Track system. Then ask how many alignments they have done-you don't want to be one of their first customers. If they are a dealer they will have BUDS and they should know that they need to reset the sensors.

The he guy who patented the system lives in SC so you could always go there. Www.spyderconfort.com

You have heard from one of the best in post #2. If you have not had a lazer alignment, get one. Go with the brand mentioned (post #8). :firstplace:

We have had 4 laser alignments on my wife's 3 Spyders (GS, STL, & F3). Three were done by our dealer, and the first one was rechecked by Norm and Mike (Spyder Comfort) at Spyderquest to see how our dealer did. They confirmed that the alignment was bang on. I would say that it is the most important thing to have done on your Spyder. Your front tires will last longer for one thing. All 3 of my wife's Spyders were out of alignment, but the GS was the worst.

Great info from everyone. Thank you all. The dealer I bought my Spyder from does not offer laser alignment, but the next closest is on the preferred list; Matthews Fun Machines in Matthews, NC. Anyone here have any direct experience with them?
