Laser Alignment available at Spyderquest

I just had my Spyder "Laser Aligned" and what a difference it made in handling. My bike had developed some wandering issues, at certain times depending on road surface and cross winds. I had watched the video on here about the person who has developed this technology and I was able to contact his partner who is in the Dundee, NY area. When I talked to him on the phone he said if I could bring my bike to him he would check the alignment and adjust it if needed. Dundee is only about 60 or so miles from me, so I decided to make the trip to have the alignment checked.

His name is Norm and is a retired BRP tech after about 20 years of service with them. He rode my Spyder first to see if he could detect any issues himself. After the ride he said that he thought the bike handled pretty well and since it had no unusal tire wear, he didn't think there was any real problem. He set up the laser equipment and had me and my wife sit on the bike while he checked the alignment and he did find that the alignment was off considerably. He made the adjustments and on the way home I was really impressed at how stable the bike was.....no more wandering or "hunting". I am very happy with the what he was able to do for my Spyder.

Norm said he is going to be at Spyderquest and will be doing alignment checks there. He is a very personable and knowledgeable former BRP tech and is very easy to talk to. This laser system is very portable and the whole process takes less than an hour to perform and he is willing to bring his equipment to Spyder owners at their home especially if there is a few that would be interested in his service. Like I said he is going to be at Spyderquest in Lake George in September. If anyone is interested in this service you can send Norm an email at [email protected] or PM me and I can give you more info
. I have no connection with his business other than a very satisified customer.

I am going to get it done in Windber ,Pa and the charge is 80 dollars there.

I'm also considering getting the laser alignment done at the dealer in Windber PA (335 miles one way from me). I emailed them and Tim replied yesterday stating that they had done 8 bikes to date. In most cases they found them out of alignment from front to rear. I don't have any squirrelly handling issues other than a slight pull to the right.

Stormin Norman is the man

Spyderjockey: I am so glad you got to meet my partner Stormin Norman Robinson, you can see now why BRP loved having him at all the rallys he has a great sense of humor and loves to joke around...in these trying times you need to laugh a little. Both Norm and I learn something new about these Spyders everyday. Blogs like this will help us learn even more and of course we always have LaMonster to lean on for factory info. Happy trails and now you really have found out what we are ALL about " riding in COMFORT"

dealer price

What is the normal charge?

Wyliec: the dealers have no set price and can charge different. Here in Florida and at Stormin Norms place we have to charge more...WHY YOU ASK? Usually at the dealers the rider is not allowed into the service area so It is in and out fast. Here in Florida and some other TLT Spyder laser Alignment dealers we allow the rider into our shop and we sometimes have to spend 2 hours with the rider to get it exact, remember some of us have a 100% money back guarantee the Spyder will ride better or you don't pay ..now that is not a dealer statement ... that is just Norm and I ( Mike in florida) So don't throw your dealer under the bus just call so you know what to expect. If you have ALOT of issues you might want to think about hooking up with us ,as a dealer might not give you the time you need...and yet they may...so with that being said...CALL... know what you are getting for the money and then decide from there. And always check the website as we are attending various Spyder events, and at that piont you can talk to the Inventor and Stormin Norman.

allignment

to bad this is being held so far north hopefully there will be somebody down south get the system in their shop and offer this

recent shoulder repairs are keeping me from riding so no chance going there

Teddy's good at finding things, but he just couldn't find the correct # to call .....

I know Teds Red Sled is most probably in need of this service, cause our last set of front tires (stock-23K miles) had uneven wear :( and we were told "Its normal, that's why BRP recommends you rotate the fronts every 6K miles" or something to that effect, & I personally think its an alignment issue :lecturef_smilie: and would like to find out :dontknow:

In your above post, you recommend for us to CALL .......... but I don't know what the number to call is :dontknow:Any help on that???
Much Thanks from Dave & Teddy~

Dave,
I believe Mike is talking about calling your dealer (or a dealer that does Laser Alignment) to ask about the process and price. See the below link for dealers that have the laser alignment equipment to date:

I am really glad I got to meet him also, he is a really great guy and really knows his stuff. I really appreciated the video you did also of the procedure on "Youtube" it was very informing and and shows how accurate your alignment procedure is. Hope to get to meet you also at one of the Spyder events. Are you going to be coming up for Spyderquest in Lake George in Sept.?

Thanks again for coming up with a true "alignment" for our Spyders!!:bowdown::clap:

Spyderjockey. I am sure Norm told you we where old high school friends that had not seen each other in 40 years , when my wife wrecked her Yamaha after being run off the road by a tractor trailer their was NO way she getting back on a bike that would have to lean, found out Norm was working for BRP bought a Spyder and the rest is history.

I know Norm can run the show at SpyderQuest BUT I want to start meeting the Spyder riders , my wife and I went to our first 2013 BRP event at Maggie Valley ( that was one first class event) and we met a few people but I want to be part of the Team that helps with problems like LaMonster and Spyder Pops do...so YES I am coming to help Storman Norman out , did you know he was championship winning racer in his day? that's where that nickname comes from...he is an up front guy and a TRUE American.

i e-mailed norm about doing one for me at spyderquest.:thumbup:thursday afternoon during registration (cause i won't be riding then!!!!)nojoke

Ya he told me about it on the phone today, we were talking about a mutual friend, Mel Brown, yesterday that is still racing flat track in his late 70's and he too is a big winner even at his age. We were able to see him race last year in Southern NY and he was kind of unhappy that he only came in second place. He made up for it later though and came in 1st place. He is truly amazing and a very nice guy as well. I can believe that "Storman Norman" was and is championship material!!

Looking forward to meeting you at Spyderquest in September. Good luck to both of you guys and ride safe!!:thumbup:

Jim,
This is great that they will be there.
Good to hear that it made your Spyder even better.
I think I'll email Norm and see what the plan is.
It would be great if he could do the alignments on a "pad" at the RV park.

Bill

I am going to get it done in Windber ,Pa and the charge is 80 dollars there.
I just had mine done at Windber along with my 600 miles check-up. The laser was done at $80.00 and the check-up was $127.99 and that includes all parts and liquids. They also fixed a few small problems I didn't even know about. And 2 software updates. With 42 miles road test to make sure all was good. They are terrific

Hi Bill,

Long time no see! I'm sure Norm can do that......his system is very portable and only 6 componets....4 "targets" and 2 "lasers" 1 for each front wheel.

Went for another 75 or so mile ride tonight and I'm telling you my Spyder has never been so rock stable. It has always been fun to ride but now it is so much more enjoyable. I'm so glad I had this alignment done. Thank you Norm and Mike.....you guys really have something that most Spyder lovers need.

Thanks SpyderJockey,

I just sent Norm an email to set up a time to do my wife's alignment on her GS.

Well it looks like i may be going there for more than the laser alignment....Thanks for sharing your experience.

thanks Jim just emailed Norm
