Is there a way to know for sure that my Spyder NEEDS to be aligned before I drop $150 on a laser alignment? I'm a Charter Member of the "If It Ain't Broke, Don't Fix it" club. I've only had mine three weeks and 1,600 miles, and it feels fine to me. Especially after installing the BajaRon Sway Bar.

I went to Netzley's in NY for a laser alignment and installation of a BajaRon swaybar. I watched them do the alignment on my 2015 RT and it was spot on. When it came time to pay the bill, he said he wasn't charging me for the alignment cause it hadn't needed any adjusting! I'm definitely going back there when it's time for new tires, even though its a bit of a trek for me.

p.s. The swaybar changeout definitely stiffened up the cornering. Don't know if that's due to the swaybar itself, the solid heim links, or both. But definitely worth it.

I gained a consistent gain in MPG, picked up 2 MPG. Mine wasn't terribly off but my steering sensor is what made a biggest difference. It was about 2-3 degrees off center. So it was causing a constant pull.

Squared Away did mine at Spyderfest and I noticed the difference mainly on the ride home.

Shoulders and back ached on the way out as I had to constantly micro-correct the Spyder, especially on the highways. On the way home the bike didn't need anywhere near as much corrections and on straight and true roads (like much of US60 East of Springfield) the bike would track straight without wandering.

I'm a believer.

I had both my 2013 & 2014 RTL's done and neither needed adjustments. I was still charged.

Here's some common dangerous Myth's : the water looks clean lets drink it.!!!!!..................the oil looks the same as when I put it in, must be fine !!!!.......the steering feels easy it must be aligned........................HOWEVER if you actually feel a problem with the steering it is usually way off......Mis-alignment generally will just cause pre-mature tire wear and I think eventually bearings............It's your choice......Mike :thumbup:

Mike at True Laser Track aka ROLO/ Outlaw the inventor of the laser align has now done over 700 Spyder aligns and only 5 where perfect from the factory…how do you like them odds…not too good :yikes:

Had mine done last month in Landrum....I noticed the difference just backing my Spyder off the concrete....everybody needs to have their Spyder checked...:thumbup:

Is there a shop doing laser alignments in Upstate NY? My 2012 RT rides fine, but I would like it checked to avoid pre-mature tire replacement. I'm very sensitive to alignment in my cars but haven't noticed anything concerning yet on my RT. (except for the bad vibration at 5200 -5300 rpms).

Well, I found my answer on the Rolo site. The dealer I bought my Spyder from does the laser alignment. Even better, they performed the alignment before I bought it. No wonder I haven't noticed anything. :bowdown::yes:

In a short word, no. Unlike car manufacturers that turn them out by the hundreds of thousands and have their acts together, BRP has no such volume and does has a rep for turning out misaligned Spyders. The 1,600 miles you have on yours may give you an indication if your tires are wearing equally evenly but it's tough to tell. Would you prefer to spend $150 to know your Spyder is properly aligned or maybe spend it prematurely for new tires. JMO.

A year ago this Friday had the 2011 RT aligned by Precisyon at Durango and have had the last 20,000 plus miles with even wear on the new 175/65 R14 Michelin Defenders with 1/4 inch rain grooves still showing. This is after having two sets of the OEM Kendas wear unevenly. Wish I could get the Defenders in the 15" size for front of the 2015 RTS.

When we attended SpyderFest this April, the first stop was to get Alignment checked on the 2015. Tech said it was close to being "true", but I consider it the best $100 insurance I've ever bought.

I don't necessarily "feel" or notice the difference, but on the 2011 I still can do the "Look Ma, No Hands" show-off for a quarter mile straightaway out west here, while the heavier 2015 seems to like to follow the road cracks a little more. Oh, the 2015's OEM Kendas are showing minor cupping at 8900 miles, and probably will be lucky to get 15,000 miles out of the fronts.

I would rank the Alignment tied to bumpskids as the top/first investment to trouble free riding on either model. JMHO. :clap::clap:

Pam, my two cents worth say if it feels ok, ride on and keep eye on front tires to see if either start to wear around the edges.

Brusier...did I notice a difference in handling after the lazer? No I didn't.

With 17K on mine now, I've had two Lasers since I pulled the front tires and had them balanced by a car dealer with the high tech Road Force? balancing machine. They ran the tires first and the weights were way off. Afterwards, as miles piled up some lapping occurred and i had a second one done earlier this year. Too early to know if the second laser will correct. I suspect the tires are simply inferior products or maybe even defective and will replace them eventually with car tires.

had my 13 stl done at spyderfest ...$120... noticed very slight difference on ride home. glad i did it just for piece of mind.

Unfortunately, the only dealer in Arizona (According to the ROLO site) is Ride Now, the most evil scallywags in the motorcycle business. I currently have a complaint pending against them with the Arizona Attorney General's office. My complaint is against the Sales department, not the service department, so I may just bite the bullet and go there. I just hate giving that vile company any of my money.:barf:
