Yes. Please report headlights and fog lights burning out and taillights burning out and when the license plate falls off. These might all be considered incidents. :joke:

You're emptying your pants just thinkin about it.:roflblack: Didn't you sell your Spyder?Real funny.....lets see if you still have that warped sense of humor if you experience this particular steering "incident" ! I'd bet your tone would change after you empty your pants out...:roflblack:
Okay, so I rode to work today and back home tonight. Three times the following occurred. I was going straight in the lane and the spyder just starts going towards the left lane. I am certain I was not turning the handle bars at all, it definitely woke me up, but I was able to easily get it to go straight by turning the handle bars. It wasn't too bad, but it didn't feel wonderful either and since it has happened I am worried it will happen again but at higher speeds (each time it did happen I was going rather slow, so that was good). I'm wondering if this will get worse and if this is the DPS problem people are talking about. It wasn't a good thing, but it also wasn't as frightening as what I've read so :dontknow:.
Ya, so now you have an opinion of someone else's opinion of someone else's opinion.:congrats:and just what would that have to do with anything? :dontknow:I've never seen so much crappy advice in one thread.......opcorn:The original poster asked for some specific advice, not your opinion of someone elses opinion......How about climbing down from that horse and helping out?.........
Some (mostly) good advice here .. and I would get things checked especially with your new wheels, etc...... but......
Are you sure you're not griping ..........
:agree:Yes, there has been so much posted about the DPS and the problems that I think we all are getting a little "cry wolf" mentality. There is a difference between drift and the feeling you have when the steering just isn't working correctly, believe me, I have felt both. The wind and the traffic and the road surface all play a part in the "feel" of how the spyder steers, along with how tight we grip the spyder as well. By all means, if you find you are truly having steering problems make all the needed reports and get it to the dealer, be safe first and foremost. Keep us posted when you find out what exactly it is.
But, if you can, re-drive the stretch you felt it on - could it have been the road? Some road humps that I go over give a "drifting" feeling. If it does it again on that same stretch of road, but not on others . . . that may be the answer.
I'll set one up and shoot some pics.
Okay, I rode at least 150 miles today, and it was windy at times I had no problems until the end. I went to visit my parents. On the way from their house to mine, there was no wind, the road was not bumpy or crowned...and it did it again. I went back and rode over the road again and again and I could not get it to happen again. I am steering straight and it goes left, and it just does it from time to time apparently. So, if I take it to the dealer and they test drive it, chances are they won't even have it happen to them and I'll be told there is nothing wrong with it. It is not the road and it is not my imagination. I have a small sports car, so I'm familiar with how ruts and stuff in the road can kind of make it drift one way or another, but this doesn't feel the same. I was willing to think it was just my imagination, or driver error, or even the road yesterday...but just when everything was going well for at least 150 miles it happened again. I was starting to feel very comfortable on it again too...
It wasn't hard to correct for, each time it was easy to correct for so that's good...I actually ended up taking my helmet off to see if I heard anything when I re-rode the road. I heard some clicking coming maybe from the left wheel?? It was hard to tell exactly since I was riding it on the road and watching for other people and my exhaust is loud.
What happened to you sounds very similiar to what I have experienced on two occasions. The difference being my Spyder pulled to the left quickly and with enough force to make it actually change lanes and go into opposing traffic before I could regain control. I don't believe that the unintended pull to the left has anything to do with the locked steering that others have experienced. I think it is a more dangerous and potentially fatal flaw in the Spyders stability control system that caused one of the front brakes to activate without reason. In our case it was the left front brake. On mine the brake applied hard and on yours it was just an intermittent drag.
Since then I lost all trust in my Spyder. My wife refused to ride on it with me.
Our safety was more important than any joys riding the Spyder had given forcing me to sell it at a big loss. I still hope that perhaps some other manufacturer will come out with a similiar vehicle that will be more trustworthy.
Regardless of what some have said....REPORT the incident to the NHTSA. That was BRP can not deny that a problem exists.
