If you want to just check the current pressure of your tire, you can't do that, correct? In other words, you can't connect the air pack up, and get a current pressure reading?

I think I've answered my own question. What I was measuring was less than 3 psi, and that's probably why there was no reading. The air pack only goes down to 3 psi.

Yes, you can, when you connect the air pack it displays the current pressure if it's on already.
Test it, let a bunch of air out and check it out.

I agree with DGoebel. Mine will tell me the current tire pressure when I connect it. The trick? Don't let pressure get below 3 psi.

Also found Lamont's air pack to be the best thing available (in my experience) for inflating the rear tire, which is no walk in the park in the best of circumstances.
