• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Has anyone checked into if the oil catch can mod voids warranty in any way? I would like to do this mod but dont want to void my warranty. I dont see how it would but I thought I would ask if anyone checked.

Thanks!

They cannot just 'void' your warranty. At best, they could deny any coverage of systems directly related to your modification - assuming they can prove that your modification actually caused a failure or problem.

+1 I agree. So, if you ever take the spyder in for a warranty issue, this mod will be easy enough to remove. You may just need to purchase an extra length of tubing since Lamonster's instruction mentioned removing an inch of the original tubing.

Yes if you worry about your warrantee just take it out when you go in for services, I spend too much time cleaning out my air box and will not take it out let them try and tell me some bull. One thing I have notice since I did this mod is that I now get a strong smell of oil.

Fire,

I'd be careful with that assertion. Being BRP doesn't rush in the first place to help many in need, I would think that any engine-related mod. could very easily void your warranty, depending on how reasonable your dealer is.

This might be a case-by-case issue but I think it is reasonable to think that whether it does void the warranty or not, it might be a big headache if you have an engine issue.

If you have to fight BRP and get legal counsel to resolve an issue, it probably isn't worth the issue.

Many things become a matter of interpretation...in most cases, this will not work in our favor...

Just my good ole 2 cents...not worth much, but might save a headache somewhere down the road!

How this mod could possibly void a warranty is beyond me. It is more likely to get you in trouble with the tree huggers as you are venting world killing vapors directly into our extremely fragile and completely defenseless atmosphere where small children and fairy shrimp breathe it in! :thumbup:

Oh, just think of the carnage!!! :helpsmilie:

Otherwise, the OEM vent tube dumps your very expensive oil (which is no longer in the holding tank where you hoped it would stay until you drained it out) into the air box where it;
1-Can get sucked into the throttle bodies where it puts unwanted deposits on valves, pistons, heads, cylinder walls, spark plugs and exhaust.
2- Can pool in your air cleaner and possibly run out on hot parts (maybe catch fire?)
3- Generally makes a mess of things.

You just got to loosen up and live a little! :ohyea:
