• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Lamonster-itis strikes again--the Mods keep coming

Well, an update about #798.
Last you saw it looked like this...

After 6 weeks of waiting for BRP to send me the new steering shaft, it is now back together and looks like this...

But, while I was waiting for the part to arrive, I got a case of Lamontster-itis and I just had to make some sort of modification while the bike was in pieces. So, I decided to enhance my previous speaker installation.
I had a couple of pods built that hold two 3 1/2 inch speakers and had them mounted on each side of the instrument cluster. I just took her out today for the first time with the new speakers, the new (modified) touring windshield, the new (Thanks Lamont) exhaust and the new (Modified again) removed fenders.

She is "almost" finished...LOL....here are the pics of the new speaker pods...

I got to tell you that looks pretty hot. The speakers look factory. :doorag:

What is done to keep water out of them or are those some kind of special speakers?

Yea, they are marine speakers.
But I live in L.A., so it hardly ever rains anyway, plus I don't really do any Bad weather riding.

I was also really happy with how my design turned out...it really does look like it's factory.

I really like how the speakers look. I'm planning to get xm/gps hooked up this summer, and have been debating whether or not to go with speakers like yours or get helmet speakers. How is the sound quality--especially at higher speeds? Since I've never ridden with music before, I'd be interested if people have a preference between speakers on the bike or in the helmet. Also, since I'm also here in L.A. (Long Beach), let me know if I can come by and check out the design in person or if you want to meet for a ride.

The speakers sound really good when riding around town, but at high speeds they get kind of drowned out.

I think that problem will be solved when I get a windshield that actually works and blocks the wind.
Plus, I don't wear a full face helmet, so I didn't even consider helmet speakers. Im still hanging onto my chopper look and wearing the little pea pod helmet. ;D
