• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Lamonster & Fred Rau's RT Trip across America-Day 7

It's the middle of the week and I decided to get my oil and filters changed at a dealer. Believe it or not this was the fist time I've ever had a dealer change my oil. I got on SpyderLovers chapter site and looked up FL dealers and found Daytona Fun Machine When I got there they were rolling out bikes and I had never seen a guy push around a bike like these guys were when they were rolling the bikes out. I watched them push a Valkyrie backwards from the front of the bike. If I hadn't seen it I wouldn't have believed it could be done.

The service manager checked me in at 9 am and I sat and watched some cool videos they had playing in the waiting area. It was really hard for me to let someone else work on my bike but seeing it's not really my bike I was not as concerned as I would have been with my Spyder. A little while later Mark came out and said it was going to be a while because you had to pull all the side panels off to get to the filter. I said I had a trick and he said come on back, we love tricks. I showed them how I just take the splash pan off of the bottom to get to the filter but I forgot that this was a SE and we did wind up taking the side panels off to get to the tranny filter. I had my tools with me so I was able to show them the procedure. This was there first RT service and I'm sure they could have done it just fine by the book but it's always nice to see it done hands on. We went over a few other things that I knew about the RT and I was out of there by 10:30.

From there I rode over to the Harley shop on Beech street and stopped by and talked to a few of the vendors I knew. Mountain Boss Hoss had some sweet rides as always, just with I could afford them.

If a 350 or 502 isn't enough power for you I'll bet the 606 will do it. Sorry this one sold for $112,000

From there I headed back to the BRP tent to hangout.
Randy "RShrimp" and his wife stopped by and said hey. I've known Randy for about 10 years from the old Valkyrie days.

We have a board here on SpyderLovers for "Enabled Riders" and this guy could be the poster child. He has a bad right arm so he modified the right bar to work for him. He made a foot throttle from the stock cables and moved the right controls to the left bar. I just think it's great that the Spyder has opened up the doors to those who still want to be in the wind.

The demo rides were full all day and the RT was a big hit.

From there I hooked up with some of my V8 buddies and it was great to talk about old times. There's just something special about those who love to ride in the wind.

Great write-up and pictures :2thumbs:

Thanks for keeping us posted and sharing your Daytona experience :2thumbs:

Another trick...the side panel can be removed without taking off the middle upper panel by just popping the prongs on the middle cover to get at the screws, then removing the and plastic rivet at the spoiler. Saves some time and effort. Thanks to Mad Matt for the technique.
