• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Ladies and Gentlemen...

I think I will pass on this one example of flying. I have no desire to fly on VN Airways. period.
If I was rich, I would buy own SR-71.... and wanted to fly again

Yes, it is possible to scrape the tail on takeoff. There are many instances where that has happened on civilian and military aircraft. One of our F111Fs did it on takeoff once.

Jack, is it possible to take off so steeply so quickly that you could touch the tail on the ground? I often wondered if that's ever a likely accident. Is the taper of the tail great enough to prevent that ever happening even in extraordinary take offs like in these videos? I'm sure there's no way it would ever happen in normal take offs.

Yes it is. The 727 even had a tail skid with a "crush can" that was replaceable for just that reason. You would not increase the pull up when doing a maneuver like this until the tail will clear the runway.
