• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. I just got mine from an on-line vendor and was most disappointed to read that the tire was made in the worker's paradise of Red China. :barf:

We just ordered and received one last week. They have them and I understand that they are still in production. I hope you have the same experience.
CapNCrunch : =)

The Kumho tire is still listed as available on both the Canadian and US Kumho web site. No signs that it has been discontinued. I sent off an email to Kumho USA 3 weeks ago asking if the rumours are true that this tire was going to be discontinued. Have yet to receive a reply.

I couldn't purchase this tire in Canada, had to order it from discounttiredirect.com

I got the Kuhmo about 2 weeks ago, $81 delivered to the house. Put it on, handles great. Discount tire.

The discontinue rumor was around when i bought my Kumho for my 2012 and ran it 33000 miles until trade in and it is still around when I purchased from discount tire direct.com for my 2014 Rt after its first 9000 miles

ALL YOU

all you guys/gals that are getting them, that's good...
but my tire dealer tells me that KUMHO has
DISCONTINUED MANUFACTURING of the AST 225/50r15's.... :gaah:
there still may be hundreds/thousand out there... and if KUMHO sticks with their plan, we will see the end of these...
and remember, when somebody buys them for their car, (which i have), that leaves 4 SPYD3R rides without....
i'll let y'all know if/when they get back with me...

Hate to thread crap... But the Kuhmo was by far the worse tire I ever had on the Spyder. Pretty bad on wet roads and standing water.

The Toyo Proxes 4 has been the best in all conditions - but that one is discontinued too.

Our choices are getting limited.

I also got mine at Discount Tire but what they had to do was ship one from another state...took a few days & I had my tire. Quantities are limited, but the discontinuance is fairly recent (recent, being a relative term) so production stock is still fairly available, but dwindling. The tire stores that tried to order form the manufacturer on my behalf were unsuccessful due to production stopping. Not real sure how Discount Tire is able to have such a surplus, but out of 12 tire places I called, I was only able to locate one from Discount Tires (And Les Schwab). Still have the list of dealers I called...being told "no" time after time.

NOTE:
Les Schwab did order the tire for me (they are affiliated with Discount Tire), but refused to sell it to me at the time I tried to pick it up...because they wanted to know what kind of "car" the tire was going on. When I told them it would be going on a Toyota MR2 (Same rim dimensions as the Spyder), they told me to bring in the wheel/rim and/or the car in order to prove it was going on the car. They would not give me the tire in the end, even though I had pre=paid for it at the time of order. Instead, they refunded my money. I am not sure why they would care what I do with the tire (hell, I could be using it for a tire swing in my front yard) after purchase, but they anoint themselves "Tire Police" and refuse to sell it to a consumer if they "Think" the tire is not going on a vehicle they approve of. Personally, I think they overstep their bounds, as they would hold no liability once the tire is sold.

Got mine in a week from Discount Tire - had to order it

Picked up my Kumho Ecsta AST from Discount Tire (about $85 total w/tax). I ordered it on 7-14-14 and was in by 7-21-14. I had it installed on the Spyder a few weeks ago and it's doing great....no mention of discontinued or out of stock at the time I purchased it. Here's a pic --
