• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

KUMHO ECSTA AST tires

Yes... and no.
You will have to stay within parameters that'll keep the computer happy.
The stock rear size is 225/50-15
A 205/55-15 will be almost exactly the same overall diameter..
Lots of folks have gone up to a 215/60-15 size in order to correct speedometer error, and we haven't heard about "Nanny" whining about it.

Bob, just to be clear. I use a 215/60/15 size because it fits, doesn't upset the nanny, more tire choices and a side benefit is it makes the speedo accurate. Oh and thanks Mike!

Deanna, Tire Rack has never questioned when I have ordered through them. I don't think they even ask what it is going on but I can't remember for sure - it was at least two weeks ago when I placed an order there. :roflblack:

I've already ordered a Yokohama s.Drive to install. (205/15 size - same diameter as the OEM tire but 3/4 of an inch narrower.)

The Yokohama S-drive is NOT 3/4 inch narrower than the Kenda. Its less than 3/16 inch difference. The size numbers are nominal, not actual dimensions. You will like the Yokohama.

My original rear tire looks just like Deanna's, also at 7200 miles. I've already ordered a Yokohama s.Drive to install. (205/15 size - same diameter as the OEM tire but 3/4 of an inch narrower.) Good reports on that tire here in the forum. But if I don't like that one, my NEXT tire will probably be the General Altimax in 215/60 size. I've heard too many people say they don't like the way the Kumho handles, especially on wet roads.

Good luck with the Yokie!
It'll be interesting to see what sort of tire mileage you get out of it.

...and how it does in the rain!

I figure that if my Kumho is even a little bit better than the Falken that I tried; it'll all be okay...

I called " Discount Tire" on Sat. 6/6/15, they have a problem finalizing my order( General Altimax RT43 215/60-15) I talked to someone, they said they do not Sell any Tires for Spyders. Has any one else had that issue from Discount Tire?

So I am going to order the General Altimax RT 43 215/60-15 from Tire Rack and see what they say. Deanna

I will place order on-line @ Tire Rack.com and say it is for my 2011 Chevy Impala. I will order 2 of the General Altimax RT-43 215/60-15. Thanks for the info. Deanna

Yeah, but does your Impala actually take that size tire stock? They might reject that too? But maybe they are just watching for the Spyder to be listed in the car section details.

I put in 1970 Beetle when I ordered mine because you could pretty much have any tire size you want on that car.

That's good to know. Thanks for the correction.

If asked tell them its for a Homebuilt Hotrod

A Hotrod might take any size tire.....so why only one? You had one blow out and the other is still like new!

Be creative folks...........

I visited the TireRack website, made the moves as if ordering a tire. Seems to me, if you read carefully there is a box that can be clicked that allows you to bypass all the info stuff.

Enough threads about what tires to buy and who likes what. Here in southern New Mexico the only dealer in 200 miles WILL NOT put any tire on other than a factory rubber.
Looking for anyone in southern New Mexico that has gone to the Dark side and found a source to replace the tires?

Vee Rubber performance tires

Model Arachnid, designed for the Spyder. Have no idea if they are good or bad tires.
