• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Know what scary? Dealers selling used spyders that know nothing about spyders

So I just find it funny and thought I would share. As you know you get a lot of friends, family and acquaintances asking you about your Spyder and occasionally you get someone really interested in purchasing one and somehow you get pulled into helping them in the search. This has happen to me about half dozen times.

So you see one listed at a dealership (non spyder dealership) and you go take a look. Many have them listed wrong. Listed as a RT when its really an RS. Listed as a SE when its really a manual. Listed as upgraded exhaust or seat when its really stock.

Then you start looking it over and they start to hover and you get comments like, "oh, thats how you pop the seat? "oh, that’s how you put it in reverse"

Then there is the 3-wheel endorsement argument. In Colorado, if you have a M endorsement you can ride "any" motorcycle. If you have a M3 endorsement you can "only" ride a 3 wheeled motorcycle. I have had dealers say to me, after I ride in on my own spyder to tell me "you can test drive the spyder unless you have the M3 endorsement". ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!

So I ask you, how in the heck can they service the thing if they don't even know how the basics? (answer:they dont) so I am just saying for those in the market. Be careful - and may the force be with you.

You get exactly the same in the automotive industry, it's nothing new, say you trade your BMW in to buy a new Toyota, the Toyota dealer wouldn't have a clue about how the BMW worked and wouldn't have all the tools to service it.
There are a few BRP dealers that haven't got a clue about their products too, I found that out.

What..!!

you have dealers selling new units without a clue..difference is at the dealership there is someone who knows, just have to find him/her...it is hard and thats why you get asked to help...

yes but at least they know the basics. but I agree, you should even check out your Spyder dealers carefully.

BASICS

:gaah::gaah::gaah: Know the basics :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:.....you really want your Spyder worked on at a place " where at least they know the BASICS ".....................not this spyder owner.........Mikeguyver :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

I watched a salesman tell a couple that the Spyder would go 200 mph. I asked him how he thought that was possible and he said because the speedometer went up to 200. I pulled the couple aside and let them know that there was a better dealer in town.

I went and test drove an RTS and started to quiz the guy on the features. Knew nothing. Funny thing was, I just told him I had a Spyder. He just let me have the key hop on it and drive without showing me anything. Didn't even know how to put a SE in first gear. It's sad really. I've come to the conclusion I want to sell Spyders on my free time honestly. Why? Because I love the machines and I think I would be good at it. Maybe BRP should contractor Spyderlovers members to have their own store to sell their products. Lord could we move them! $$$$$$$$$$

I look at the pictures

If I see a clutch handle its an SM if I see no clutch handle its an SE. That's more accurate then the description in some cases.

That's funny. Had that happen yesterday while we were looking at a RT for the wife.

Well you should preface your post with "non-BRP dealers" ... Sun is primarily a HD & Honda dealer, so you should not be surprised if they aren't up to speed. Until there are more Spyders in the general population you will find the same dumbfounded looks if you say bought a BMW traded in at a Harley dealer.

For Spyders in Denver the go to dealer is RPM Motorsports in Lakewood.

I can see the issues when it comes to non-BRP dealers. On the other hand, BRP dealers should be up and running with all the correct information. Not everyone in the place, but at least one or two that know what they are talking about.

To hand someone the keys and send them off on a test ride with no information--:yikes::yikes:

Glad to see lots of folks realize the BRP dealers can be just as clueless. I wouldn't let the one close to me do anything more than a state inspection. If I need warranty work I'll tow it 70 miles to the other dealer.

Who is the best spyder dealer in the Phoenix, AZ ares?

I'm a current Harley rider considering the switch to trike but I live 3+ hours away from the nearest dealers and want to avoid the "clueless" ones :yikes: out there. Thanks!

Everyone's an EXPERT these days!
