There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Kist of 2014 issues?

Folks,
I had read a while ago a comprehensive listing of the possible issues with the 2014 RT's, but I can't seem to find that thread anymore via search.

I just placed an order for a 2014 rt-s, and I just want to make sure (once I get the VIN) that they either DON'T apply to what I get, or that the dealer has checked for them if the VIN falls into the range.

Does anyone have a link to that thread or a list of items to be checked?
Thanks!

The 2014 RTs have been about the best of the bunch; so far!
There were some leaky parts down in the engine bay on a few; we had some ignition switches that were bad, and some rear tires that wore out prematurely...

...All of these issues have been addressed... enjoy your ride! :D

There was one on very, very early models that was a leaking Allen head screw on the transmission case that needed to be cleaned, possibly replaced I believe, and Loctited with a better compound. Don't remember the exact details.

There was an ignition switch replacement. Dealer should have list of affected VINs. I saw that VIN list and mine wasn't on it.

Some RTs have louder fuel pumps than others that some owners had replaced as result of noise complaint. Heard second hand from a '14 Ltd owner that our dealership would not replace his unless it was defective or under performed. Allegedly BRP was charging back to dealers pumps that were replaced under warranty when noisy but not actually defective. My hearing's shot so it isn't an issue for me.

There were allegedly VIN notices on loose windshield screws and defective gas caps.

That's the extend of my note taking.

The number of issues with 2014 RT s in general has been remarkably small. I have ridden over 31000 miles and haven't had any of the so called issues that few people report. I understand caution but you may be over worrying this a tad.

Approaching 26,000 miles on my 2014 RT-S se6 and only problem was a faulty parking brake that was fixed under warranty.

I know -- I just like to get all the items lined up in my head -- JUST to check if off my list :D

I know that MOST of the 2014 RT's have been fine, and I'm glad to hear all the GOOD stories of that! I remember that thread I am looking for devolving quickly into folks accusing others of trying to make a big deal out of small problems, etc..
I'm certainly NOT trying to do that -- like I said, I just like to get my list of items for my own sake for review!

Sticky Seat

I've been having severe issues with my body sticking to my seat. I'm finding that it gets harder and harder over time to physically remove myself from the bike, and even after doing so there is a strong pull back into the seat.

I've contacted BRP and spoken with my dealer about the issue, but both seem to maintain that it is an intentional design feature, and not covered under the warranty (?).

In just over a year, I'm at 16.5K miles. That is what I rode in nearly two years on 2010 RT, yet they claim that there is no fault with the Spyder.

Other issues include a problem with the throttle mechanism that that tends to push the speed well over the posted limits, a need to clean and polish the Spyder at night for even the slightest bug hits and other dirt, and the high costs associated with food and hotel costs that are part of the long rides that my wife and I have have taken and have also planned for the future.

The Spyder has also required new brakes, tires and oil changes with far more frequency than I had expected. This is a result of the unusually high mileage in such short periods of time.

Worst of all, it has become a dust collector for my car. Again, the dealership wants to take no responsibility for paying for my car washes with only very short mileage counts between them. It is also causing forgetfulness, as driving has become a somewhat unfamiliar activity.

In addition to what has been mentioned.
On certain VINs, malfunctioning fuel cap, bad bushing on center arm windshield. Both covered by service bulletins no cost fixes.

More good things than bad with the 2014 RT's. I put 10.5K miles on in the last 7 months of driving. No problems to report. One tire (rear) replaced at 8.9K and my second oil change is coming up in two weeks.

Poughkeepsie area

Bob, I'm in the Poughkeepsie area -- so not TOO far away! A group ride would be great!!
I'm in New Paltz / Gardiner. Would love to get together a group ride. I'm a Spyder newbie, just 300 miles on my 2014 RTS. Done a few upgrades/mods but a lot to learn for this old Harley rider.

Somethong else to be aware of

Correction
I upgraded on March 17, 2015 not On March 17, 2014 as in post

On March 17, 2014, I upgraded from a 2012 RT Ltd to a 2014 RT Ltd. I returned my new baby (only 380 miles) to the dealer on April 11 due to a problem with the signals. After 2 blinks the four ways come on and begin to strobe, within 30 seconds or less the rear signals stop working and the brake lights dim. Today the dealer told me that the cluster has to be replaced. Oh and, although not safety related, the mud flap for the trailer hitch was hanging by a single rivet.
