• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

keys, locks, and the ignition switch...

Well, the ignition switch on my 2014 RT-S SM6 failed. The dealer replaced the ignition switch and both of the cables to the frunk and the seat. 2 new keys so they re-programmed the DESS, etc. So all is good with stuff in front of the driver.

HOWEVER, they didnt replace the rear center cargo lock. For that, I still have to use the old key.

Now, my question is, how do I get the rear lock to use the new key? I really dont want to have to remember 2 keys or carry 2 keys for my spyder.

Thank you in advance for your help and advice.

Can you get the tumbler out? If so on my GIVI bags when I wanted them all keyed the same I took the tumbler out, put the key I wanted to use in and took a dremel tool and ground all of the pins that were sticking up off flush with the barrel, that always worked for them.

Here's what I would do...

I would pop the lock out and take it to a locksmith and have it re-keyed. If you can't get it out yourself run the spyder by a locksmith and have them do it. Unless you have locksmithing skills I would not pull it apart and grind pins down...jmo dont ask since then I became a locksmith.....

well I would take it back and have them fix the rear lock since the rest was replaced by BRP warranty

Makes no sense having 2 keys to unlock your bike

THE IGNITION SWITCH - ISSUE

This is why I have separate mechanical PULL cables for the Frunk and Seat and if you have a GAS DOOR both can be accessed after you un-lock the door so they are secure ....... Mike

:agree:100%:2thumbs::clap: The dealer should have done that without question :lecturef_smilie: :gaah:Now they are costing you valuable riding time & gas:banghead: Find a way to brake even or something for their blunder, good luck. The cores can be re keyed if you can get them out, highly suggest a locksmith however to get it right. :coffee:
