There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Keys keep losing contact with bike

Has anyone had a problem with the keys demagnetizing or whatever they have in them to make the bike start? :( We carry an extra in the trunk of my husband's Harely and had to use it not long ago, but it would not talk to the bike. Took it in and got it reprogrammed and now we have another one not working. It is not the same one that failed last time. Had a spare key made and they have all been kept in the house rather than storing the spare in the Harley. Any idea what is happening?
Thank you for all the help I might get. Gay

Don't know..!!

what model you are talking about but the 14's did have an ignition switch problem and they were replacing them. If an older model there must be some interferance between the switch and the chip in the key. If oem key and programmed by the dealer I would take it back and have them do it again with both keys...

The keys themselves do not get reprogrammed. What happens is that when you add a key to your bike, the system reads the chip in the key and adds that code to the security system as being a recognized key. In the 2014 models the BUDS system is used to add keys to the bike, before that a special key was used to put the bike into the mode for adding keys. In the pre-2014 models you have to have every key you want to be able to use with the bike re-added anytime you are adding a key. If a key is not run through the process, then that key will no longer be recognized by the bike.

So, is it possible that you at some point had a key added while the spare remained with the Harley? If so, that is why it wouldn't work anymore. And was the key that is now not working not re-added when you took the old spare in to have added?

Mine is a 2012 RT and you are absolutely correct. When I got the new key, I forgot to take the Harley spare key with me, but I actually did not know to do that. Thank you so very much. I think if I take all three keys in and have them set, I may be all set up and ready to go. Thank you so very much again, for all the help.

Wow you guys, i haven't heard of that if you still have good key, look at mykeyport.comImageUploadedByTapatalk1415502980.818996.jpg is good to Cary other keys too, & can clone your transponder chip to keep VSS good.

Hi there Gay, I find it a little strange that your dealer failed to mention that both keys need to be present to make both of them operable. :dontknow:

I will do the unusual and come to the dealers defence. Since most folks get a new key made when they lose one. The dealer maybe wrongly assume this was the case and not that a 3rd key was being made. The OP may not of explained why they were getting another key made. But agree that it should be standard practice to ask the customer. "Is this all of the keys?"

Results?? Been few days &all. Hope the best, fyi locksmith buddy informed me the "chips" in keys are extremely fragile &sensitive to heat, affects operation & range, heads up

See post #4. Did not take all the keys in when getting new activated.

My primary key will show an error (KEY) when i turn the key off and keep my stereo playing! Has never done this when starting the engine or killing the engine. Any Ideas on what is happening or is this a warning sign for the key to quit working?

Ask dealer. Ive seen a (bad key!) orange screen before i placed transponder chip in proper locationImageUploadedByTapatalk1416291657.846226.jpgdid not stay on screen long (2-3sec) but that was on start up not after so sorry dont know. G'luck
