Key Problems

Lost one of the keys to my wifes spyder, went to the parts dept. at the dealer and they called Can am and ordered a new one saying all I had to do was get it cut, Went to a lock smith to get it done right , got home and tried the key it worked great to turn it on and open seat and trunk but when you try to start it it says "BAD KEY" and won't start. Is there a code or special way it has to be done:chat:

The ECM has to be reset to accept the key. They will need all keys you have. I had my dealer order me an extra key, and they will reset ECM to accept it later this week when they do the first service. WORD OF WARNING If you were to lose all keys you have to get a new ECM. The Rune has a similar key system, when someone lost a11 there keys, it was about $800 for a new ECM, of course he found the old keys a week later.
When telling this story to the service guy at my dealer he said he beleived it would be closer to $1200 on the Spyder. I had an extra key made for the Rune and it is in my safe deposit box, and when they get the extra key for the Spyder programmed, it will go there to. My dealer warned me of this when I picked the Spyder up.

I'm not sure but I think the BUDDs needs to be used to program the key and Spyder together like on the SEA-DOOs with a new laynard.

I think the BUDDs programs the key and Spyder to work together. But the dealer will know this better than me?

Ask if it needs to be programmed?

It's reading the resistor in the old key.

Thanks I guess I'd beter call the dealer and see whats up.
