• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I got the "Bad Key code "yesterday on my 2014RTS-SE6 I used a different key on my key chain( that I got from the dealer with the black key protector) and I did not get the code. Deanna

I believe that someone posted in here, about having their dealer re-program their keys and DESS system with BUDS... no more trouble after that! :thumbup:
Total downtime: less than fifteen minutes!

Ann... 47,600 miles already?!? :bowdown::2thumbs:
You ARE, the Road Warrior!!!

FYI in the past week, there have been at least 4 people with new Spyder RT's having this same issue.

Seems like something is up with the 2014/15 new key system and either some kind of failure or something is going on!

Seriously.... I am going to comment again, I am seeing online both here on SL and Facebook a rash of DESS problems being reported!!!

I bet on BOSSweb, this is getting talked about a lot!

Come on Bob where you been. This started when the 2014's started going out to customers. 2 problems cropped up right away.

First was the keys getting stuck in the ignition switch. This was tracked down to certain key cut codes and BRP issued a bulletin to dealers to replace the ignition switches, locks and keys for those units.

Second was DESS and or Key Errors. Some say they have had new DESS units put in that fixed it. Others say just some reprograming needed. Others get confused and say it needs a new ignition switch, thinking it is related to the first problem.

Bob, any ideas on exactly how DESS works? Seems the DESS module simply sends a signal to the ECM. Is this coded or simply 12v or ? that completes the ECM to power up circuit.

I am with it and I remember when it first started happening with the early 2014....

But this has grown even more with several people owning new 2015's and getting this issue.

Trust me.... I am aware of what your saying. But again this seems to have grown a lot lately!

Finless, disregard my previous post thinking DESS is capable of installing a bypass...read the manual and it is stupid complicated.
