• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Kewlmetal rear rack

Hi all,

I received the Kewlmetal rear rack from Matt & company ( the prototype one as I needed it for a trip this week ). I viewed the install video which was a real help. MagicMan's Triple Play brake unit still fit easily into the frame as before ( I highly recommend the triple play unit).
It did take me a little time to get the main rack lined up perfectly ( I am a perfectionist ...... what can I say ). I mounted the Kewlmetal top plate and the Givi universal mounting plate. The Givi plate did take extra time as I needed to grind out the top a bit so the bolts & washers would lie flush with the top. Mounted the Givi V46 topcase which is real easy to mount & remove. Looks and works awesome!!
I hope the photos upload and view well.

I get a chance to try it out tomorrow on a 12 day trip down the Washington-Oregon coast, back up through the Cascades and back home to Vancouver Island.

Thanks Matt & company for your great Spyder innovations & products.

Rusty,

That looks great!! I am glad we could help out with the prototype unit so you could have it for your trip. We have the first batch of production units in house now and they are heading to powder coat in the next few days.

Two comments I would like to make. Rusty mounted the GIVI adaptor to the regular top plate. We will be making a top plate specifically for the GIVI that won't stick out in the back, and it will have bolt holes already, etc.

Also, as far as ligning the rack up. That is the main difference between the prototype that Rusty has, and the production racks. The production racks have more adjustability in mounting alignment so every installation can be perfectly adjusted every time. This is shown in the installation video.

Have a fun and safe trip Rusty!!

Matt

One more thing I forgot to mention. The rack is made very well made and is very sturdy. I grabbed the rack and moved the spyder back & forth and it still felt very sturdy. I also tried this using the GIVI topcase with the same effect.
