Kewl Metal Adjustable Risers

I just received the new Kewl Metal adjustable risers yesterday. These riser, unlike the NMN (ESI) risers, allow you to adjust them 3 different ways! The install was really easy due to the fact I had 4" risers already on my Spyder. It took about an hour to make the switch.

I wasn't expecting a huge difference but I was amazed on how nice they feel. I especially like being able to angle them in more. The fit and finish is excellent!

I highly recommend the new Kewl Metal Adjustable Risers!

Hi Rando

So with the original bars cut to suit the NMN ones do the Kewlmetal ones need more bar length? That is - is the clamp on the bars any wider than the NMN clamp??

I love the concept!:2thumbs:
Question?
If you have the Spyder City 2 3/8" Billet riser already HOW much added adjustability would these provide and NOT need longer cables?:dontknow:

KM Risers & Kury grips installed

We dropped my Spyder off at the local bike shop last night to have the KewlMetal adjustable risers & my newly powder coated Kury grips & throttle boss installed.
I was happy when they called early this afternoon to say it was all done.
We made it up just as it started to rain. Luckily it didn't last long and I made it home before any more hit. I was ready to ryde home in the rain anyway, though.

Anyhoo - it's like night and day for me! Definitely sitting more upright and with less pressure on my hands & wrists. Took a little bit to get used to the changes - but, it felt great.

I'll take pictures tomorrow!

They charged us for 3 hours of labor. But, I'm glad we had them do it - I know it was done by people who knew what they were doing. They said the KewlMetal instructions were right on the money. They did have to lengthen the ignition wire. Didn't seem to be a big deal.

I already had a one inch BRP riser installed when we got the bike. Not sure if that made a difference.

Still may need to tweak the height and angles a bit.

Oh, and we were waiting to see if I was still going to need mirror extensions.
That is a definite. I was looking at my hands even more with the risers.

Many thanks to Mad Matt and his feedback before I ordered!

Here a a few photos I took of the KewlMetal & Kury install.

I really like the functionality - though, we still may need to adjust a bit higher & maybe angle them.

Have a set on order-Handbrake fit

I have the 4" ESI risers on my Spyder now and wil be changing to the Kewl Metal ones tomorrow when they arrive. I am told with the bars already cut it wil be an easy process. My only concern-if I may call it that, is whether the cables wil reach on the right side for both the electronics, and the Hand brake.

I want to have the bars pulled back towards me so I can seat as upright as possible.

Were there any issues when you installed your bars as far as cable length or any other problems during the install.

The tough part may be getting the right grip off in one piece, though I may have the extra grip from when I bought the other risers.

My dealer refuses to put any aftermarket accessories on my Spyder

He feels it is "dangerous" will negatively affect the handling, The hand brake may fail, my feet could get rapped under the extended brake, and on and on. I may have to try another dealer. There is one closer to me, but I went back to the selling dealer from whom I got a better trade in allowance and cost on the leftover 09, so I went there. They are almost an hour away. the other dealer is about 20 minutes from me, and seemed very cordial when I took my extended test ride from them. They did not even balk at spending their time with me when I purchased from the other place-They said they could not match the deal I got.

I hope the other dealer wil not be as "anal" regarding add-ons as my current one.

Surprising...my dealer will install anything provided it's not deemed unsafe out of the box...they make money on the labor, so it is worth it to them...

As far as the risers go, the KM look really nice, but on a joking side, they look like tinker toys...the ESIs match the look of the bike and fit in nicely...look like OEM...personal preference, of course, but I don't think the KM blend in as well with the lines of the bike...function looks good though...

I gotta agree with you on the 'tinker toy' look.

They sure look like they have tons of adjustment.. just not sure about the extra part of the stem sticking out of the bottom.:dontknow:

People don't even notice my ESI risers.

Installed the bars as well

The one issue I ran into with my SE RT was trying to get the left hand instruments-shifter, lights etc., over far enough to the right so the grip did not hang over the edge. It appears you left the added space need for the wires by not pushing the controls all the way to the right. Doesn't this leave your grip hanging over the bar an inch or so? The way mine is mounted, the bar must be installed very high or the wires and housing for the auto shift are in the way?

I am wondering if you got longer bars to start with to allow for this?
