• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

K&N Oil Filters

Had a guy tell me about a K&N oil filter that doesn't need to be replaced every oil change. That it can be cleaned out and reused. My concern is actual filtration. Would they be good enough to trap everything and could you wash out all of that and safely reuse it? This was on a Wing, btw....

I assume you are referring to the stainless steel mesh filters. Some people swear by them, some swear at them. They filter very well, better than paper gauze type filters, but cleaning is a pain and has to be done correctly. They are expensive, but in theory will last forever, so in the end not all that expensive. It mostly boils down to personal preference. ;)

K&N's...

have used them forever it seems. They make an excellent product but agree that the cleaning can be tedious...so as mentioned it's a choice. Clean and reinstall takes more time than pop in and pop out paper filters. But it is a better filter...:dontknow:

:agree: I have used K&N Filters in both of our cars for years, and have been very pleased with the results. Yes, they are tedious to clean, but they only have to be cleaned every 50K miles. When I put JT's air cleaner on my RT, I will be putting in a K&N filter.

Doc is talking about the k&n reusable OIL filters.. NOT air..just so everyone is on the same page...

Doc, I'm not into them, never have been. Regular disposable filters are cheap and iirc the reusable ones are $150+??. That's a lot of disposable filters my friend!
