• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. K&N Air Filter - 2017 RTS

I'm rapidly approaching my 3000 mile service (already ) and I was thinking about bringing a K&N Air Filter element along with me to the shop and ask them to go ahead and pop it in for me during the service (even though air filter service isn't required at this point)

Was looking for a good place to find a suitable K&N filter element for a 2017 RTS. Any leads on this?

Thanks much in advance!

I think this may have been a topic of discussion once before. If I remember correctly most everyone agreed that there was no need to use an aftermarket filter. Air flow of the factory filter was sufficient enough and aftermarket doesn't filter well enough. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks.

Please Disregard, I found what I need on the K&N site (duh!).

Other then the fact that you don't have to replace them just clean and reoil,I have never had any real benefit from changing to a K & N on an unmodified engine. I know I am in the minority here on this but that has been my experience. If you want a K & N at a good price go to BajaRon one of our sponsors for this website. he is on the home page.

It is probably true that the K&N will not make any significant difference in power or fuel mileage unless you modify the exhaust to flow more air.

The beauty of the K&N is the 50k (under normal conditions) service interval. And that you never have to purchase another one.

There are a lot of rumors around about the K&N not filtering well. It is true that if installed improperly, contaminants can get by it. But this, of course, is true for any filter. It is also true that people have built engines that flow more air than the K&N they installed could adequately filter, causing real problems. But as far as I know. If used properly and in the correct application. The K&N does a very good job of both flowing more air and filtration.

I have used K&N air filters an several machines (including dirt bikes) with no problems. I carry K&N filters for all Spyder models and years.

I sell the 1330 model for $45.50 delivered. I have sold quite a few of these to 1330 owners. And as far as I know, they have all been very happy with them.

Perfect! Cheapest price I've seen.

I use KN for every car/cycle I have ever owned and already own a recharge kit. I do it mainly for the service interval and filtration efficiency, and don't pay much attention to increased HP claims. My engine is stock, and not modified.

I stand corrected. And of course your response got me thinking that there isn't any significant amount of spyder ryders that take their rydes
off road. So since spyders are not exposed to extreme conditions & the K&N filter doesn't have to be replaced for a very, VERY long time, it just makes sense to put one in. I put one in both my trucks & I had forgotten why. Cost savings. Thanks for the reminder.

On another note, I had heard of some turbos on trucks getting destroyed by grit that made it by a cloth filter while off road. The key words here are Off Road. I shouldn't be comparing apples and oranges here and I have no idea as to what kind of cloth filter they were using.
