just installed full race air system and juice box

took about 3 hours with a guy helpping out on the install which is pretty good seein wrenching in a wheelchair means doing everything one handed.

Sounds mean, I had to reinstall the o2 sensor (thanks for selling me one randy) I did an issue with it twice I was getting on it and the spyder bogged down as if the killswitch was hit and when I let off and got on it again it was fine, had a few small backfires on downshifting hard, it did not seem to gain consistant were as sometimes it take off like a bat out of hell and other times it seemed slower that my o2 mod, race air filter not juice box setup. Also it was not faster on the top, I hit 120 on the speedo and it would not get up more than that of running about 3 miles flat out,WTF ?

I remember reading about maps for the spyder could someone direct me to were that was?

There was a TON of oil in the stock airbox and the oil hole that goes to the back cylinder was plugged, oil was coming out of every side of the airbox, what a joke got some pics just have to dumb them down.

I am going back to the track in Brainerd,MN (BIR) on wednesday the 22 of july at 5, would pay someones entry for the night if they beat me on their spyder best 2 out of 3, and showed me what they had in theirs that I didn't.
Any takers, should be easy to beat someone in a wheelchair I would think..

That much oil, eh? When I put in my green filter, I didn't have any oil build-up at all...in addition, the bike should be able to go over 120 quite easily...many here have done that without any mods...

I have to install my juice box...curious to see what changes it makes...

You're going to have to get the JB settings set correctly--- I can't help you there as I went with the fuel pressure mod instead.

You won't gain ANY top speed with the race airflow, JB, or any other option that I'm aware of. All of these mods are going to increase your acceleration, but the Spyder is still rev limited at 10K - and you still only have 5 gears.

10K RPM's is 10K RPM's no matter what setup you have feeding the engine.

Even with Ken's high compression pistons, cams, etc. --- you still won't add to the top end - you'll just get there a hell of a lot faster.

If you want more top end you'll need another gear, a change in sprockets, or a bypass to the rev-limiter (not recommended).

Fire,

How about just a different bike? This thing ain't made to go 180-200 like a sport bike...and that's fine with me. We have so many speed cameras around here that getting anywhere even close to that speed is a certain way to get in trouble.

I like the acceleration...top end speed is not important to me as I have no place to really play in that zone...

I hope to get my JB installed this weekend...I think this will make a nice change and it's a fun mod.

Where to next?? CHAD, swaybar, foot pegs?? So many choices...

I can't really ride another bike cause of being in a wheelchair, I have it 130 on the speedo, read thru the jb instructions and have to change some stuff.

I had the green race air filter and NO AIR BOX any more and I do have the gas pressure system just did not have the people to put it in. I know this isn't going get more than 135ish but that is 15 more than now, more testing and moding, just lookin for some feedback on what people have done with whats available.

I'm getting more confused by your posts. What does the 'green filter' have to do with anything? You certainly can't run the green filter without the airbox.

No matter what mods you do to your Spyder - you still can't get over 10,000 RPM's - just like a stock bike. There is no top speed to be gained.

I'm not interested in top speed at all - but I do want this bike to accelerate as quickly as possible----:D.

I have not hit the rev limiter in 5th gear which is at 10.5 the wind resistance is the issue, there is not enough usable power in the stock setting, I know I can get more out this thing , talked to TB about juice box settings and exhaust ( the one they made I blew up 3 times, and they highly reccomend the duel now) and I am going to change some settings up.

The limit is 10K if you look close.

Why the need to go faster than 130mph?

The top speed is not limited by RPM. Power drops off after 7500RPM and therefore there is not enough power to push the Spyder once the revs climb much past this.

I have ran Stock, with exhaust, with race intake/pressure mod/o2 modifer, and with JB. Top speed has been essentially the same with all configurations.

Well, maybe the professor needs to step in here - but last time I checked the top speed is going to be entirely dependent on your RPM's and what gear you are in. If you're at your max RPM's and in 5th gear - that is as fast as you're gonna go.

7500 RPM's x 5th gear is going to give you the same speed no matter if you have 106 HP or 150 HP.

When I had mine up to 128 - I can't say what my RPM's were at - but I was on full throttle.

So if you're saying that in 5th gear you can't hit the 10,000 rpm limit - then you may have a point that more uuumph will get the RPM's higher and thus your speed will be faster.

OK, there seems to be some serious confusion here. Let me add to it, if I may. :D Top speed is governed by the amount of available horsepower vs. the drag, primarily. It is not always possible for a vehicle to reach the rpm limit in top gear because the drag coefficient overcomes the horsepower, and you just can't go any faster without a tailwind, streamlining, or more horsepower. A lower gear ratio can allow you to reach a higher rpm at the same point that the drag coefficient overcomes the horsepower, but that is usually past the peak of the horsepower curve, so it doesn't generally result in a higher top speed. There are exceptions.

Now, the drag strip is different. The top speed there is seldom the maximum top speed that can be reached, or the maximum rpm of the engine, unless serious gear changes have been made. Drag strip top end, in a properly geared vehicle, is somewhat reflective of the horsepower available. Making more horsepower will usually result in a higher top speed at the strip, but it might require gear changes to do, and is somewhat dependent on the driving technique, bogging, spinning the tires, missed shifts, etc.

So, clear as mud? :D More horsepower can raise top end speed...but not if maximum rpm has been reached for a long run. As the man said, 10,000 rpm is 10,000 rpm, same speed unless you change tire size or gearing. The drag strip is a little more complex, but top speed can quickly show improvements there, with an increase in horsepower.

Yeah my bad, I will take the hit on saying that, I was lookin at the red, not the numbers.

I did call two bros once in the last two days, the reason I had a delay the first time is I was starving the gas so I bumped up the YELLOW on it and I have since found on mine the best is 6.5. the second call was a dead spot in 5th at 6.5 revs if I let of and tried to cruise at 85 to 90 it would bog so I had to bring the YELLOW BLUE up from .5 to 2 with RED BLUE at .5 this is with a yosh baffled, evio full race system and the juicebox of course. I will know if I have gained on wednesday at the drag strip but it seems to grab better at the bottom, 98.6 was the fastest I hit at 13.693 so I am looking ot beat that.

How did those settings work? I have a dead spot(hindle, green filter, juice box).
Two different times since install on Tuesday, with the settings shown on here by Lamonster, when passing in 5th accelerating to between 85 and 90. As you let off the throttle a little to sustain speed, all at once its like you let go of the throttle completely and are just coasting. If you twist the throttle from current position nothing happens, if you lift off the throttle completely and then twist it will accelerate again. Only to cut out again when you let off a little. After you slow back down to say 60 everything is fine and if you accelerate back up to try and create the situation again it doesn't happen and runs like it should.
Just wandering if you were able to cure your problem.

Thanks

Seth,

So, what are your final settings? The yellow/blue, red/blue, as you go from .5 to 2.0 slows the speed of fuel for accel and throttle, no? So, at 6.5 on yellow, you're increasing fuel for acceleration, yet with yellow/blue, you're slowing the speed in which the fuel is injected...right?

Anyway, I have a hindle...I'm curious where I'll end up with the settings...

Seth

I cant wait to hear if your track times get better with your improvements. Please update us when you have the information.

As fast as Seth goes . . . . . .

. . . . . I think we need to search the threads from last week, those settings look like they are set for time travel into the past.
