• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Just got my F3 home!

What a HUGE difference from my '12 RT-S, damn near got blown right off this beast. Windshield is no longer an 'optional' item, I'm in my 40's and I can't remember the last time I had an Ab workout like that. Didn't notice it too much in the City but once I got on the highway heading home, wow! Wind gets under my 3/4 helmet and tries to rip your head off, didnt help that is was 55'f either (and avoiding the snow / ice / puddles on the roads up here in Northern Alberta).

I average about 15,000km / year, and there is no way that is going to happen without a windshield (which I'll be picking up on Monday). Then the waiting game begins to see where the aftermarket guys go with saddlebags. It's a loss of creature comforts from RT-S, but I have NO regrets at all!

Congratulations..!!

very nice looking ryde...:2thumbs: so now the "making it mine" begins..good timing, your weather should be getting good soon..:yes:

I'm getting the Gauge Spoiler to tie me over (and to hold the needed E-Z Pass) until I see what the aftermarket comes up with. Should pick up my new Ryde in a free weeks!

Ya that is probably a safe bet, I considered it as well, but having been watching the different aftermarket sites, not seeing much in the way of timelines yet. Alternatively, maybe I just need to start wearing my full helmet for a bit before I drop the 500 or so on a windshield that I might change out in a few months... what to do :)

Not only is it great on the road . . .

. . . but it is something warm to cuddle with on those long Canadian winter nights that you guys have until June.

 Congratulations!

CONGRATZ

I HAVE THE 'BLUE RIDGE' WINDSHIELD ON MINE....
if you are under 5 foot tall, it will block the wind for you... but any taller than that, the wind will hit you square in the face...
NOT an issue for me, but it does...

Ouch, I was concerned about that... I am 6'1. Sounds like all it will do is relieve the constant pressure against mychest, and instead throw my head around like a bobblehead :)

Without getting everyone's panties in a wad...I wonder why you did the change?

Personally I think the F3's are fugly, really. And no windshield? Why?

I REALLY don't get it?

So what made you go there? Hype?

Really don't see it.

Back in my BRP Seadoo days they made a great Hype over a "new" type Jetski that was going to change the industry, it was called a 3D I believe...it was a fun ride...I rode a friends a bit....but it was a flop. Thinking the F3...3D is the same animal...

Just wondering what your thoughts/reason behind the purchase?

(I've asked this before without a straight answer :( )

Fair question

Valid question for sure. For me the biggest thing was leg position and overall comfort. Now don't get me wrong, I've travelled across the country on RTS and loved every minute of it, but at 6'1" the bent leg position is a huge problem for me. I tried highway pegs but even than it felt cramped as your body is centered on the RTS and your squeezed up against the front fenders with the highway pegs. With the F3 position being further back (and significantly lower to the ground - in the seat rather than up above it) it is considerably more comfortable for those of the leggedness.

Your other point of the windshield is also valid. I will miss the electronic windshield and all the gadgets that go along with it, but to be honest I rarely adjusted it, I liked the wind in my face and I was always above it anwyays even at it's highest setting. So no real loss there (I will be getting one anyways before summer hits as i'm planning a 15000/km trip this summer)

And I'll be 100% honest with you, I did not like the look of the F3 initially either, but I slowly warmed up to it. And that it what finally turned me to the F3, I always felt the RT was too 'bulky', now don't get me wrong all the molded storage was beautiful and immensely practical on my loooong trips which I would do several times a year. But for the day to day 'cruising' it was a behemoth. I liked with the F3 I can minimize it for my daily driving and cruising around, and 'bulk' it up with saddlebags etc for my long trips.

I know the F3 isn't That much lighter than the RT, but it makes enough of a difference to notice with the power. And the handling of the F3 is superb, being that much lower to the ground and the riding position further back is hard to describe, than that of the RT.

Now these are the thoughts that just popped up in my head and I raced to get them down on paper (probably to the point where this post might be unreadable).

I love Spyder's, I love the fact that they are completely different that Anything on the road. I love the fact the BRP came out with another Winning concept vehicle that again shows it's uniqueness. Now that is not to say that they might put a 'stinker' out in the future, but as of this date, they are hitting home runs with Every new idea they are putting out.

Hope this helps explain where I personally am coming from as a lover of the RT and F3.

...then you obviously haven't ridden it... I'm just saying.....

He's right.

...then you obviously haven't ridden it... I'm just saying.....

And he is absolutely right. You need to take one out for a test ride, the differences in handling are noticeable instantly! And we're not talking little differences either, the F3 is downright nimble.

Wow.

Thank you for an honest answer without the typical Spyderlovers SLAM.

Nice to hear your thoughts.

Personally, I won't buy another Spyder, but nice to hear input like this. Thanks

I see Snoopy is up to his old trolling tricks . . .

Valid question for sure.

. . . . but thanks for posting your reasons for getting an F3, I was wondering too. Just like an F3 isn't for everybody, neither are RTs.

No matter, you have some great enjoyment in front of you.

Take care.

I just traded my 2014 RT and four on FS three and I agree with you that a windshield is I am us, I have a blue ridge and it is muchbetter than nothing, but you still get a significant amount of wind on your shoulders and head, which windshield are you thinking about?
