• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Just another FYI

Lamont, Get your Spyderlover title copywrited. Then you can sue this guys axx off----but you will have to pay the lawyer.
There's no easy way out.
Arthur---Mexico City

I just got off the phone with a member here that's going to be streaming a live internet show on a weekly basis about everything Spyder so he says. He's a local guy and has been working on this for the last 8 months but this is the first I've heard of it. He PMed me to ask about promoting it on the site and I asked what was in it for us. Short answer is this is not a paid show so there is no advertisement, I was hoping to get some promotion for the site but that has not been offered. I'm sure the link will show up here sooner or later so I just want you to know this has nothing to do with this our website even though he's calling the show Spyderlovers TV.

I'm not to happy that he's using the name I came up with back in July of 2007. I don't know how you see it but to me that's building on another mans foundation.
:wrong:

I think you missed my point...... SPYDERlovers borrowed the 'Spyder' from the company that coined the name/unique spelling. Adding 'lovers' to the end of it is hardly original.

'Spyderlovers TV' strikes me as a similar use of a borrowed brand name.....
It original enough that I was able to claim it in 2007. That name was not my first choice, I wanted SpyderRiders but it was taken, as a matter of fact there wasn't a whole lot that wasn't taken seeing the Spyder name was used in the car market way before Can Am used it, it's also used for paintball guns. If you don't think there was a reason he used that name then I don't know what to tell you.

In the other thread "Spyders.TV" he is naming the show Spyder TV. Maybe he changed the name? Still I don't think it's ethical to promote another site hear even if it's supposed to be non-profit.

What the he'll is wrong with you people? The man obviously has a passion for the Spyder as we all do and he wants to do is share his passion at his own cost and no profit. I wish him all the luck. If he gets 10% of the viewers that this site gets in one day I'm sure he'll be happy. I pretty sure I'll watch it at least once but if it's boring I won't go back. He is bearing all the risks, not Lamont. The name Spyder is not original. How many websites have been created for the Can Am Spyder and most people go to only one: this one or Marc's. Most owners do not even know about the websites, let alone a tv. Is your loyalty and passion for a machine or a man?

Thumbs up for you desert spyder.:clap:

I understand he will not be running advertisment ad's on his show but a background set banner will do the trick. Maybe you should make contact with him again and try to pitch that idea and send him a banner. That way it will be a win/win for both partys. He gets to promote here and you there.

I like the idea of a streaming show, but not under these circumstances.

I would be leery of making any 'deal' with him. The problem arises in that people will associate 'spyderlovers TV' with this website and vice-verse. Lamont has no idea if this guy knows one end of the Spyder from another --- and using the name 'Spyderlovers TV' will make people think there is an association.

Not cool at all and opens up a real can of worms.

If a site sponsor treats people bad, etc.... they can simply get booted as a site sponsor --- hard to do so with this TV thing.

Hopefully he will change his mind and not use the Spyderlovers name.

Since he is broadcasting a show about Can-Am Spyders on the Internet and calling it 'SpyderLovers TV' - and this site is also on the Internet and called Spyderlovers.... and was registered some time ago --- I believe legally Lamont has a hand up on the guy should he want to go down that path.

Just my 2 cents- if he won't cease, at least try to require him to put "NOT AFFILIATED WITH SPYDERLOVERS.COM" all over his site.

Think about it..........

While I'm all for any decent "press" that we can get for our rydes, if he uses "Spyderlovers", and Lamont then has no control over the nature or quality of what he puts out there, that could come back and bite us on the bottom here... He needs a separate name that is his to either build upon or ruin on his own...
