There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Juice Box setting for Hindle

I haven't been out too much either...busy with work...

Each time I go out, I'll tweak a setting or two and see what it changes...I know with modes 5 and 6 on 2.0 and mode 2 on 3.0 and mode 3 on 4.0, I got 31.9 mpg...however, I did get some backfiring/popping...maybe mode 4 on 6 is too much? Performance was outa hand...huge change...love the JB..

I'll keep track and let you know...

Going to try to ryde today after work. I really don't know about the gas mileage yet. Before the JB the best I ever had was 34 MPG then around 31 MPG the last 4 tanks were 29.8 MPG. I might just top off my tank today and see if I can get a couple of hours in and then check it out.

okay, I'm at..

Mode 2...3
Mode 3...4
Mode 4...5
Mode 5...3
Mode 6...3

I rode only a very short distance...didn't really get to go on one of my 100+ mile rides...(it's a work-day)...anyway, acceleration still crisp and smooth...no popping, but I don't think the bike got hot enough in the 20 minute rides I was taking...

I am wondering if mode 4 (cruising) was set too high and acceleration/throttle coming off an already rich cruising mode was too much for the system and this caused the popping....

Who knows...time will tell...

I am not running a Hindle I have an MBRP also the green filter. I have been running the stock setting from TBR since wrapping the headers I have noticed the muffler getting hotter which stands to reason. Also more popping and louder. Took the bike in Friday and had the recall on the DSP the cluster and the esm. Now I get a lot of popping and the bike gets hotter around town which adds to the popping and then it sort of drags on acceleration. Any Suggestions.:spyder2:

I think the popping is either due to a leak (:yikes) or too rich of a mixture.

I am stepping back my JB settings to see if the popping decreases.

It's very likely that the recall changes will make us change our settings again.

Apparently, a loud backfire is bad....some popping is not too bad...however, if we can decrease it, we should...

Have to see what my latest changes do...

Noticed after a short ryde the:spyder2: was surging again. I stopped 3 times and tweaked the JB. I still have not got it dialed in just right. The rain has plagued me everyday. I hope to put in a good day of ryding Fri.

Bonecrusher, I'm going to try your settings and see if I can dial it all in.
BTW I had the recall done before the installation of the JB.

Recall

I've done a little tweaking on it but not done yet. It runs pretty good but I seem to be running about 10 to 15 degrees hotter than with my other pipes. :dontknow:

Have you had the software upgrade done; and if so did you notice any difference in the way your Spyder ran? It appears that many are experiencing some strange issues after the upgrade.:gaah: I may be one of those.nojoke:doorag:

Yes, but my upgrade was done on Sat 7/26 and my JB install was done on Weds 7/29. I did not have very much ryding time in before the JB because of work schedule and have not had time after the install because of rain. I noticed the steering was more sensitive than before the recall. I did post a problem with the steering before the recall, but I sure it was caused by loose relays. My fuse box cover had 1 ear broken off. When I replaced it with a new one. I discovered all the relays were not seated properly and were to the point of coming all the way out.
On the drive back from the dealer (after the recall, before the JB) it ran like before low speed sputtering and surging in the 3800-4200 RPM range.

I'm turning off the JB when I go in for the upgrade...let the bike program itself as it should...then make the adjustments later...

How about letting the bike idle for 15 minutes when they're done??

Update on my JB settings. After tweaking and tweaking these are my latest settings.... These settings ran good for the few miles I tried them out this evening...will update after a couple of more days of ryding

1. .5
2. 7
3. 7
4. 7
5. 2
6. 2

Thanks...I have to run the bike without any changes until I really see how the update did...I think your 2,3,4 settings at 7 look a little high, but who knows...you're going to be pushing a lot more gas when you throttle, max accel., and coast....my settings were considerably lower than that before the update...if we need to go that high now, then it's likely that the update really made things a lot leaner...

The 5 and 6 settings look about where mine were before the update...those tell us the speed at which the increased fuel goes in...I would think that 5 and 6 wouldn't have to change as much as 2,3, and 4....

I did 166 miles with .5,6,6,7,.5,.5 avg 31.4 MPG yesterday I still was getting surging in the 3800-4200 RPM range. The last 80 miles of that trip I kept the RPM range as much as possible above 4600.
After the trip I reset the JB .5,3,4,5,.5,.5 I only rode it 8 miles and it was running awful. That's when I changed settings to .5,7,7,7,2,2, I only rode about 10 miles, but had no noticeable surging in the 3800-4200 range. This was all city driving. I'll look at it more closely on the last 2 mode settings when I get in some more hwy miles. I probably do have them set too high, but I was not pleased with my previous settings and just started a new process of tweaking from a different base line. Thanks for the advice. If it doesn't do like I want on the hwy. I start with the last 2 mode settings, before I do anything else.

FYI

I installed my jb after the update and the poor running.I set mine at
setting 2 ---4
setting 3 ---3
setting 4 ---7
setting 5 ---.5
setting 6 ---.5

I figured I was runnig real lean after the update with the Hindle exhaust and the symptoms I was getting.the first two settings are 2 full "notches above twobros rec.and the crusing is just .5 above.I figured I did not want to go lower on any settings.I don't know but I think the last two settings
you would want it to kick in as soon as you get on the throttle.:DI still get a little bit of popping like Bonecrusher and Black Widow described.I did for
s&g put it at twobros recomendation but it did not like those settings.I just clamped off the purge line but have not driven too much to notice any change. How long can I run with this clamped off?

The 5 and 6 settings at 0.5 might be too low...remember, this is the timing element...tweaking this might help with control of throttle and acceleration...I like the 2 more than the 0.5...I have mine off right now but 2-3 is probably better...I have to get out for a ride but just don't have any time right now....:( If you have a good combo with 2,3 and 5,6, you might be done tweaking...perhaps drop the 7 to 6.5 or 6??

On the last two settings I thought the lower you go the quicker the response is,that is how I read it.:dontknow:

True, but there is a question about the 0.5 setting being proper...is it possible to push too much fuel through too quickly, thus creating sputter or choking the engine a bit?

I see your point.might play with that a bit but mine is running so good now I am afraid to change it.

I did a 60 mile run this morning. Ambient temp 73. Spyder ran great with the last settings of the JB. I'll make another run in the middle of the afternoon and check it's performance when the temps are in the 90's. So far this is IMHO the closest I dialed the JB in to my satisfaction.

I need to ride more and I have no time! :(

Lemme know how it goes...if I can ever get out for a ride, I'll letcha know what works over here...
