There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. anybody with them can you tell me if they really worth the money. Im thimkin i want speakers so im debating on what to do

JL audio

I have a friend who has his on a 2010 RSS..he loves it and they sound really good. He also has sub in the trunk...i want a system similar as well but not willing to give up frunk space or shell out the $1500 that the JL's cost

SOUND QUALITY

Just a few thoughts on this.....Remember you are on a Motorcycle....that makes quite a bit of noise....not to mention the amount of wind noise etc........It's one thing to spend a few Thousand on a sound system for your Home...where you can actually hear and appreciate it.......it's another thing to spend that kind of money and get very little in return.....I spent a Whopping $125 on my " Shark" audio that I bought on line......I have upgraded to 2 amp speakers for $35 a pair and Now the system is very loud and " clear " using my MP-3 player.......Just throwin it out here.....Good Luck...Mike.

I have speakers in my helmet and they increase in volume as I accelerate and decrease in volume and decellerate(sp). Thats perfect for me. Why do you want everyone else to hear YOUR music?

Bill

They are definitely worth it and a bargain, sorta speak.
Shops would charge $1000 just for custom pods.
$750 for pods and $400 jl audio speakers??? 5 thumbs up, if I had that many. :)
Do need a lot of power to drive them. Those tiny motorcycle amp is not going to work.

I definitely agree. I went one step further and removed the Shark speakers and replaced them with some pioneer 250w speakers. The Shark speakers didn't last too long. All together, it was still less than $200.

There is no room for a helmet. Half helmet, may be but probably not.

Other than the cost itself, this is the main reason I am going to go with a helmet system. I just don't want to give up the "frunk" space. It is so valuable when going to the store for some small items. I keep my wallet, cell phone(until I get a ram mount), Bible and anything else that I keep with me that I don't want to fly off at 70mph. I plan to keep a rain suit in there as I start traveling. With the amp up front you will need to buy saddle bags or another storage accessory if you want to take any trips and I don't really want to add to many things to the spyder to take away from the sporty look.

I opted for just the pods for same reason, can't give up the space but spyder looks better from front. Sorta has that jet fighter look. It does look like a big boom box from back but it blends well with lines of spyder.

Were the pods alone enough for a good sound while riding?

Good Speakers

I have JL Pod speakers:2thumbs: Purchased on-line for $700 from JL Audio. Used a Fusion AM/FM 50 series with I-phone capability with cord. I do not allow anyone to work on my bike but me!!!!!! Wonderful sound  :2thumbs: No need for Amp or Sub-woofer. My funk has a liner and I have a Tricled fuse box and remote that you can not even see! Used a hidden marine antenna and and reception is great. PM: me if I can be of more help;)!!!!!!!!!!!View attachment 60338View attachment 60339View attachment 60340

I am good to 80mph with windshield up. I am using eclipse digital 4 channel amp bridged to 2 for 250 actual watts but I can use a little bigger amp. Amp clips before speakers distort. Jl audio and alpine digital amps have smaller footprint than eclipse.

Where did you purchase the speaker pods? Nice set up!

Directly from JL. They use a shop agent called shopatron. Funny thing happened after I canceled the order thou.
5 days after I placed order my spyder's engine locked up so I canceled order. Few days later a dealer who was assigned to my order( seems they use a network of local jl dealer to fill online orders) and offered to give me $150 off. They didn't even have the pods already at the shop so I didn't understand but I took their offer and ended up paying $580 total. I held on to the pods till my spyder was fixed. And, thank you.
