• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I thought I would share some of my inexpensive mods. It’s not that I’m cheap, (well maybe) but my wife only gives me $15 a week allowance so I have a limited budget. I also like the challenge of doing the design and work myself.

Great job! I also would like more information on the highway pegs, photos, parts list would be great. All the aftermarket options are sooooo expensive.

Foot rest

I added a photo of the foot peg or more like a foot rest. I have them placed so my feet are tucked up behind the farring. This keeps my feet away from the heat coming out the right side vent.

I'm 6'1" and only have a 1" riser so I lean forward so I don't need my feet too forward it makes me feel like a jack knife.

The foot rest is brake/clutch foot pads from Walmart. The support is 3/4" square tube bolted to the frame using existing bolt holes.

Trunk Release

I found the electric solenoid from a post by motavar. The soleniod was just $5.50 but the shipping was another $5.50. This soleniod has been used by other Spyderlovers. Wired the solenoid off my power distribution box so it is only powered when running and for a few minutes after. The solenoid rod extends to the side of the latch and just bumps the latch when energized. I used a simple bracket from the home store to hold it. It fits under the cover completly out of site.

Don't feel bad... I'm not familiar with him, either.

But...see this thread: http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5753
.

Thanks ataDude! I have added the Vista Cruise, very inexpensive :clap:and it does allow a break for my right hand. If you install one make sure you rotate it to a position that you can set it or flip it open when the throttle is on. I need to move mine as it is a little high for my thumb to reach when doing 55+.

I will add a photo when I get home tonight.

Great mods!
Can you tell me what you used for the hands free opener that cost $1.00?

Lisa K

Some here have posted about using a #155 spring with one end slipped under the washer on the frunk locking post. I used a standard 15/32 X 1” to 1-1/8” spring and a 1/2" copper cap used on water supplies. I drilled a hole in the center of the cap and installed them as shown in the photo. This pops up the frunk lid and holeds it up so you don't have to use both hands to open it. The benefit of this setup is that the post can be greased inside of the cap without getting on other things that may rub against it.

Hubby took a few minutes today and took care of the frunk hands free release for me. Nice, quick and easy mod!
Thanks!!

Lisa
