• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Jeans or regular moto Trousers?

I'm for protection unless it's a very short ride. But even if I wear regular jeans, I use armored knee pads. So it's either my full suit Aerostich, BMW moto summer pants, jeans with knee pads. I always wear a jacket with protection and last year I bought a vest that inflates on impact to protect the ribs, shoulder and neck

I believe about 75 % of vehicle accidents occur within 15 miles of your residence …….. if this is true ATGATT makes more sense for a spin around the block ….just sayin …. Mike

I agree. I do wear my armored jacket and Helite vest ATT. It's just the jeans with knee pads that I may wear for short rides, specially when that is what I am already wearing.

What brand of Jeans are you wearing?
Thanks
Good old Cycle Gear. I go there because I can try on before buying, there is a huge selection and their prices are decent. I call them the Harbor Freight of the MC accessory world. They stock many items with their house brand that are sold elsewhere with national brand names on them and for way less.
+ The underliners I wear are Cycle Gear's Heat-Out and Freeze-Out and THEY WORK!
+ I forgot to add gloves - always the gloves. Hitting the pavement without them has horrible results.
I buy on line only when I have to, I much prefer the old fashion eye-to-eye buyer-seller relationship. It's even better to go where everyone knows your name. (Some won't get that last bit.)

Like many threads, this appears to have taken on a life of its own. Martin’s question was whether you prefer riding jeans to moto pants, and why, and it appears to have turned into a declaration of who believes they are the “safest” when they ride :dontknow:

It could be deemed to be as you suggested.

However, the second line from the OP......"I anysone rYding just in shorts or normal jeans"?...does seem to open the subject for further discussion about some of the safety issues.

So far....IMO...a bit off, but not enough side bars to mess with the thread. There has been some interesting discussion. With all the new people on the site...some are seeing this type of information for the first time.

We’ll have to agree to disagree on this one, AK. There are a zillion (well, maybe a million :D ), threads on Spyderlovers regarding ATGATT for new and old members to look up. Martin’s thread is specifically looking at the differences people find between moto pants and riding jeans, and the reasons they have. Shorts and normal jeans are also in the mix. You would have to ask if some of the comments were made without even watching Martin’s video.

Speaking of which, I do indeed wear shorts on the F3. This is a calculated gamble, and occurs when I ride the 10km, all in a 50kph zone with no traffic lights, to my local beach for a surf. If I was riding two wheels I would not even consider it, as you never know when that patch of sand or oil might pop up, but on three wheels, and as a constantly aware driver/rider, the risks in my calculations are minimal. However, I NEVER wear normal denim jeans. If I am riding anywhere other than very local, it’s just as easy to pull on riding jeans as normal ones, and without knee guards, they are all day comfortable off the F3.
If I am off on a multi day trip, or on the freeway, then it’s the MotoPort Kevlar jeans with armour.

No problem what so ever. If everyone agreed...this would not be fun at all.
