• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Jack?

Just about anything that'll get the bike up to a height that allows you to turn some wrenches on it...
I think that Craftsman has a lift with a 1500 pound capacity... :thumbup:
It's all about safety, when you're crawling around under what is a VERY large hammer! :shocked:
 
Ramps

Get 3 standard car ramps. Place them behind each wheel and back up onto them. Be careful not to go too far! I mounted a wheel chock on the one for the rear wheel so it would stop there. Works fine for me.

If you wouldn't mind, How about a little more dialog to go with that great jack picture to describe the process? That's what is a little baffling to me.

I imagine the big yellow one goes under the lower center frame rib, approaching from the side, to initially lift the Spider. Then you've got to make it stable. So then what do you do with the blue one? And exactly where is it best to place the two Jack stands?

Depends on what you are going to do. The blue one will lift the front end (from the frame end behind the frunk) with the stands under each A arm at the wheels for front end work. You can then lift the rear with a third stand at the shock mount. The yellow lift will do the whole unit...

I usually use the yellow lift but do set her down when torquing the rear parts...:thumbup:

I have the same exact set up as Gene. Only difference is I also have the massive 25 ton 30" lift jack stands for Swaybars on late models. Use the sears yellow to raise the front, insert jack stands. Use the blue to raise the rear enough to put the yellow jack under the rear tire. Remove the blue jack, insert Jack stand. Now, change oil, tires, whatever. Solid as a rock, and best of all, SAFE! Thanks to both Gene & Joe for your very helpful responses. I've been sending everything that requires lifting the Spyder to my dealer to do. Unlike some folks, I'm lucky enough to have a dealer (Leisure Sports 'n Turf) who is willing to take my money to fix or install anything I want (including anything aftermarket, like the sway bar, cat bypass, tires, etc.) But I'm still not too old to learn how to do some of this stuff myself. Just need to safely lift the thing. :sour:


PS... Gene, I love the pin striping on your RS. It's subtle, but really sets it off. I'm going to have some pin striping done at Spyderquest this year.
