• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

J & M headsets on a Spyder

Questions

I read a lot here, but never saw an actual straight answer to this one.

If you add the brp factory cb to a 2010 rt audio trike, can you use a J&M elite headset, to plug into the spyder.

I installed the BRP CB/intercom last spring and use J&M in my helmet. I don't recall the model of the specific headset, but was their top end headset at the time for flip-face helmets. Works flawlessly.

I, too, am using J & M. However, BRP has "suggested" that that's the reason my CB often continues transmitting 7-8 seconds after releasing the PTT switch.

I have the CB function on my RT-S with the BRP headsets and the cb still transmits 7-8 seconds after I release the button, so it isn't the J&M headsets

I have the J&M Headsets. When I had the CB installed the BRP headsets were on 6 month backorder (until next spring).
You have to buy the whole setup from J&M because they sell the lower end that makes sure the pin out to the headset matches the BRP connection to the bike.

They work flawlessly on the Spyder. Make sure you get the HC-ZAL upper cord that attaches to the helmet and the, HC-ZVT lower cord that attaches to the BRP CB connection on the machine.

Don't believe the erroneous information BRP is putting out that J&M equipment is causing the several second "TX" delay on the bike. It's a BRP problem..it happens with BRP or J&M equipment.

BRP is aware of the problem and to date haven't come up with a fix.

I personally called Radio Sound Inc. in Louisville, KY, the manufacturer of BRP CB-Intercomm-Am/FM systems, 3 times. Then told me that BRP is painfully aware that there is a problem with their software in the instrument cluster. Whether they are trying to find a fix or not remains to be seen..

Again, with the correct upper and lower cords, J&M will work fine on the Spyder.... The TX delay is a BRP problem.. and they know it..
