• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I've seen some recent Posts...

That have me concerned...
Which also concerns me, becuause this rarely ever happens to me! :yikes:
If you don't like what somebody has said; that's okay.
If we all liked the same things; too many of you would be following my Missus around anyway! :roflblack:
But when somebody posts something that is so obviously going to be perceived as inflammatory; why are they doing it? :dontknow:

My Grampa Denman used to define "Tact", as "the ability to tell somebody to go to Hell; and having them looking forward to the trip."
Disagreements are fine. The exchange of differing opinions is even finer...
But let's all try to use some tact along the way.
It'd make my Grampa smile a bit. :sour:

Off my soapbox now...

There's only a small handful of people here worth even talking to anymore...so I don't post much here anymore.

This isn't the only Spyder forum in town.

Final post

Interesting you started this thread Bob. I could not agree more. I just spent the last several hours deleting all of my posts and threads except the two that were on closed threads. The administrators on this site are far too tolerant of mean spirited people that seem to make personal attacks over and over and add nothing to the subject under discussion.

Tolerance is a subject that has been mentioned a lot lately.

Sorry to see that White Lightning seems to be saying goodbye.

There have been a lot of attack posts lately. Hopefully those who do it regularly will lighten up a bit.

A differing opinion is fine. On a forum this large, you are certainly not going to agree with everyone. Like others said, it is how you handle those disagreements that count.

Bob and I don't agree sometimes, but he is still talking to me--I think? :roflblack:

Have to agree..!!

with you Bob. We have lost some really good people because of this. Don't understand the logic in insulting anyone. I was brought up to not say anything if I had nothing good to say. It just showed my ignorance, mean spiritness and put me in a place I didn't want to be. Lamont does a great job, but one has to remember this is a big site and he has new ventures he is working on. But it should not be up to him alone. Hope the trend doesn't cotinue..I've had a great two years here, met great folks, learned a lot and hopefully helped a few. :dontknow:

I make a point of apologizing first or somewhere in my statements in advance so as to not offend anyone. I DO try to to be civil on this site - I respect every ones opinion. tender foot I am not!

ignore list

if someone frequently posts things that bother or offend you, just put them on your ignore list. problem solved.

I'm new to the Spyder world, and WEB Forums. I really love the Spyderlovers Forum but have made only a few posts. It's a great place to see what's going on with our Spyders and I have learned quite a bit from the forum. I started a thread the other day that went sour very quickly. The thread was meant to be a positive one about a nice ride on our Spyders and a visit to a National Park (Shrine). I have no problems with someone that disagrees with me. I remarked on a thread the other week that we need to show more respect to each other on this forum. I have ridden Harleys for a good number of years and never visited a Harley Forum. We used to just get together and enjoy our machines and discuss things. In that environment you would show 'Respect' to the person who you were debating with eye to eye. After all, that other person may be 6' 6" and 300 lbs., and to disrespect him could cause you to eat your next meal through a straw. I would hope that on this forum we can show that same 'Respect'. When you post on a thread, envision the person you are addressing as a 6'6" guy with lots of muscle. You'll be surprised how respectful you can be. Now, please enjoy your next ride and come back and tell us all about the ride and that great machine!!

That comment on your previous thread was way over any line. Most on here don't act like that and i'm surprised that poster did. :dontknow:
