• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. I've got some serious electrical issues

Hey Everyone. I have a 2010 Spyder RS. It's parked in an underground lot and after sitting for about a month without riding today it seems to be dead. I've got 12V+ in the battery but nothing happens when I turn the key. I found a couple blown fuses (F1 main relay control, F7 tail light), but switching those out doesnt improve my situation. The fuses under the seat all look good. I don't have any spare relays to plug in to troubleshoot. Can anyone recommend some things I can check before I give up and call a tow company to bring it into my local shop?

The only reason I checked it today is because someone messed with it last night. They tried to remove the tank bag with no success. They did succeed in stealing my tire pressure gauge. That might just be a coincidence. I've had no problems like this since I've owned it.

Appreciate the help, Thanks

A static 12 volt reading may be too low under draw from the starter. The battery voltage will drop when started. I suspect your battery needs charging or worse case the ahole that messed with the bike may have cut or disconnected some wires. I'm not sure what caused the fuses to blow, again it could have been something the perp did when messing with it. Good luck and try a new or fresh battery.

I don't get any dash lights or anythng when switched to "on". The battery was replaced about 4 months ago. Also one of the first things I tried was jumper cables to my car battery. No luck there.

I I just don't get why I park it a month ago, it's not out in the weather, then all of a sudden I've got blown fuses. There was no moment of life or popping sounds the first time I turned they key.

I am thinking the thief screwed something up on your bike. Maybe file a report with the police and then an insurance claim if applicable. Electrics are the worst problems to troubleshoot.

So, strangely I can turn on the hazard lights and flash the high beans, so there is power running through the machine somewhere. I still don't get anything if I turn the key. I've triple checked all the fuses under the hood and also under the seat. I'm going to plug it into a tender for the night just in case. Otherwise I'm out of ideas....

If thief screwed up cable at all it may not know you pushed mode button & could be main problem. If you csn pull battery again & test seprate from system is a suggestion to elimanate 1part. More over open all areas like thief did (hope no damage) & see what wires they had access to. Once crooks fail to steal then they get destructive :cus:stupid but what Ive seen :banghead:

Well the good news is I found the problem, bad news is you were right. The sons of bitches cut the wires behind the handlebars. A rather serious problem that I don't see how I can fix myself.

SUUUPER LAME!!! Sorry to hear this :(. Good job finding the problem though!
I hope you have comprehensive insurance on the Spyder... I'm sure they can fix it in a jiffy :)

Bummer..!!

My thoughts were just that. They tried to hot wire it blowing the fuses. The hazard and headlight flash are seperate for emergency use. Didn't leave much for splicing. Will have to do a bit more and find the fuses and relays...:banghead:

Very sorry to hear, glad you found it & it can be fixed. Now finding the :cus: & not getting yourself in trouble:chill:. Is very hard to control. Insurance either yours or the property where you were parked should cover, but that can lead to more headache too. Best of luck & be glad is the cold season so you have time to get fixed & test before prime riding time :sour:
also curious to your location so others can beware.
