• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

It's ready. Wait, not ready. OK, it's ready

I got a call yesterday bike is ready. I told the manager I would get it today. This morning I call to make arrangements. I would be in around 1 PM. At 12 o'clock I called. Left a massage to tell them I was on my way. Manager, called to let me know he got the message. And the bike was being washed. I was about 1 mile from the store. Phone rang. Manager. Steve, I don't know what happen. I started the bike up and all the warning lights came on again. Manager said I could still stop by. I asked a friend for a ride he has to get back to work. He takes me back to my shop. I called back around 5 to see if I was riding tonight. No, I won't be riding until next at lease Wednesday. Now, they have to have parts shipped in from Canada. :gaah::gaah::gaah::gaah::gaah::gaah:

Sorry for the bad luck.

Perhaps you could ask the girl on the front of it if she might know what's up? :shemademe_smilie:

Yeah... probably too much "augmentation" on the trunk lid. It must be throwing the nanny into fits. ;)

Nice Spyder though. He gave me the grand tour of his mods and they were simple and extremely useful.

Might not make any difference, but one thing I will never do to my new RT-S is wash it with a spray hose. Too much electronic stuff to get moisture into and have corrosion starting. In my years of owning my BMW K1200LT I kept it very clean using only a spray detailer and soft cloth. These two machines seem very similar with the electronics on them. All parts are sealed, but many riders would have radios quit or cruise controls quit, and when torn into, corrosion was found. When I rode in the rain, as soon as I got in the dry, I would dry the water from all electronic switches. Don't know if that was the reason why, but I never had any electronic gremlins on my BMW. I know I will never forcefully spray water at the dash or motor of my Spyder.Just my 2 cents.

You have not ridden your bike in the rain. I go on lots of road trips. It's very rear to get a rainless road trip. I rode from San Antone, Texas to Jacksonville, Florida in a tropical storm Allison. Couldn't lay up, had to get back to work. I don't think a water hose is going to heart anything. In the Smokies it rained on us a lot. It's a motorcycle, and not it's not made of paper. Get yourself a good rain suite. And enjoy Mother Nature.

I have also ridden in the rain, heck I think I have more miles on my Spyder in the rain than out of it. :)

I think the biggest fear of using a water hose is not so much the water itself, but the amount of pressure that is being used. The garden hose on a straight flow might not be so bad, but I have seen people use a pressure washer before. With the pressure washer there is no telling how much water you are forcefully pushing into areas that usually do not get wet even when riding in the rain.

On our trip to Maggie Valley we were supposed to stay at a long cabin that was motorcycle friendly. It ended up being a dirt road at a severe grade to get to the cabin. It was raining, the traction control system j-braked the engine the entire way up the hill, it was like riding a dirt bike. We ended up riding into Maggie Valley to stay, as a couple of the bikes could not make it up the hill. My Spyder was encrusted in mud, and I had no choice but to take it to the spray & ride, and very carefully get all that crap off.

The only issue I have had was needing my Gear Placement Sensor replaced, but I am not about to blame that on the water either.

That is a shame. It is odd that everything was ready to go until they washed it. Makes you wonder.

If they pressure washed water into some electronic component that would be no good.

I've also ridden a lot of miles in the rain with no ill effects. But as stated here, a pressure washer is not the same thing.

Could it be they PW the engine compartment?

And I'm wondering, now dirty could you Spyder have been? Looks like you keep it pretty clean. Usually, mine just needs a wipe down.

Hope they get it fixed soon.

Well don't ride in Florida in the summer then.....It's just like a pressure washer almost everyday.....:roflblack:

Thank you! At last, some one that knows difference between a garden hose and pressure washer and a rain storm in Florida.

rain, rain, more rain

I live in western Oregon and have ridden lots and lots of miles in the rain. Bought my spyder Feb. 09 and my first day riding was in the rain. I have a place on the Washington coast that doesn't have a garage so I don't have any option but to leave it parked outside in the rain overnight. I throw a tarp over it to minimize the amount of water that it is exposed to. No problems yet -

When I brought my used 08 home from Ga it had about an inch of bugs. I took it to the local wash bay and when I started it aftrwards I had all kinds of codes and it didn't want to run. After it dried it was fine. I thought I was being careful where I sprayed but still had issues. Only hand washing for me now.
