when we left home I turned onto the main road and I see a guy wearing shorts and a sweatshirt no gloves. He had a knee brace on and was hitchhiking. We pulled over as we have seen him around the area and offered him a ride. He was going to town (9 miles away) and said his hands were a little cold but otherwise he was plenty warm. He said he usually rides his bicycle but he get hit by a car a few weeks ago (cause for the knee brace).

And here I thought riding Spyders in the snow was crazy!

On our trip to Grand Rapids yesterday, we saw two different people riding bicycles. Wind, snow, and cold...with visibility about a half mile. That takes a lot of desire, need, or craziness. It is humbling to see. Nothing is as unstable in the snow as a bicycle. :yikes:

Just outside of Boston... it was -4 degrees.
I hasnt been that cold here since 10-15 years ago.

The sad thing around here is, most people you see on bicycles are on them because they got a DUI. Of course we see the hardcore biking crew every once in a while as you get closer to the cities, but none of these people fit that mold. At least our winters are much milder than the ones you guys go through.

Ann, that was nice of you to give him a ride as well. He may have only been a little cold at that time, but I figure he would be very cold after a 9 mile walk. :shocked:

Joe and I were trying to figure out if the bike is the result of a DUI. He is about 50 and he lives with his mom. I don't think he's operating on all 8 cylinders. But I couldn't just drive past him walking with shorts on in the cold.
