• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

My 2013 RTS was finally delivered by the dealership.

The wait gave me some time to read a lot on this site and learn a lot about my new machine. So, after getting it, adding some creature comforts, and driving it to work for the first time today, I'm starting to learn the differences between two- and three-wheel riding.
But, I do have some questions.
-I changed the fuse from position 6 to position 7 so the 12v plug in the trunk would be hot all the time. I checked the plug and confirmed it was hot with the key off. But, the horn and the driver's and passenger's heated grips didn't work. I confirmed the horn and driver's grips worked when I did my short ride around the block when I first received it. So, I returned the fuse from position 7 back to position 6, and everything works fine. But, when I checked the 12v plug with the key off, it was still hot. So, now I'm confused about how things are supposed to work as I read about them on this site and how things are actually working. Any thoughts?
-For my second question, I read about adjusting the front shocks using the tool provided in the tool kit. But, when I was looking the bike over, my front shocks don't seem to be adjustable. I don't see the adjuster that compresses the spring. And, I don't find the tool in my tool kit. So, do some Spyders come with front shocks that are not adjustable?
Thanks for your patience. I look forward to learning a lot more here. Maybe we'll meet on the road sometime.
Stay safe,
Todd

:welcome: and :congrats: on your fine taste in color.

Sorry, but can't give assistance on the fuse or shock questions.

Welcome..!! Welcome..!!

to both the roadster world and this awesome site....congrats on your new ryde..:2thumbs: yellow I see..not sure on the fuse thing but if you have it in 7 and all works for you leave it there. I believe yours came without adjustable shocks but your in luck cause BajaRon (sponsor on home page) just got his adjusters for your bike in stock. Red or Silver. Practice and in about 300/500 miles you'll be a pro...

Hey Neighbor!

The shocks on the '13's are not adjustable. As far as the horn and heated grips are concerned, I'd check the wiring diagram to see if you're in the correct box.

Are you a member of IMG (Indianapolis Motorcyclists Group)? If not, check them out. There are probably around 10+ Spyders that are members. There's a Southside group of IMG members that meet almost every Tuesday (year round) for dinner. Tomorrow, they're meeting in Greenwood and I saw that three Spyders are going.

I'm checking with a friend of mine (SpyderFun) to see if he wants to go. We're from the Fishers area so there may be two more.

I think you may have inadvertently moved F5 into the F6 position which was empty because F6 had already been moved into F7. F5 is the horn and load shedding relay fuse. The load shedding relay controls the heated grips, fog light, and automatic suspension control. Those don't power up until the engine is running at 900+ rpm, and of course would not have worked if F5 was pulled out.

Thanks for the quick replies

I appreciate the replies. I just reviewed the video from Lamonster again where he covered changing the fuse from 6 to 7, and my understanding is that I did it correctly. But, I'll check it again. The manual covers basically the same information as the video, but watching it done is certainly better for me. I appreciate the explanation about the fuses for the horn and heated grips, WasWinger.

As far as the shocks, I'm still in the learning phase. So, I'm not looking to change them or tackle what would be a major undertaking for me to install the aftermarket adjusters. I just wanted to confirm that I wasn't missing something about not seeing the adjusters on the shocks.

Thanks for the information about the IMG, Copperman. I'll check into when and where they meet, especially those in the Greenwood area. Don't think I can do dinner tonight...already have plans.

WasWinger aced it

That's what I had done. The open position was #6 and I put the wrong fuse there. Thanks for straightening me out.
