If you want to take off your grips without destroying them, this is how I did it. When I changed my grips I took off the end caps and sprayed WD-40 in between the grip and the bar. I Then slid a skinny Phillips head screwdriver between the grip and the bar. Moved the screwdriver around the bar until I found the glue spot, as when they are put on they seem to only put glue on one area. Use the screwdriver to break the glue hold and slide off the grip from the handle. You can do this for both sides. Make sure you clean off the WD-40 from the bar. I used those alcohol wipes that clean glasses.
Installing is simple too. Make sure they fit, and see if they do not turn too much. If they do then do like MarkLawson did, and wrap the bar with electrical tape to make a better fit. When you glue the grips on. Put the glue on the top of the bar between the starting end and the middle of where the grip ends and slide it on. This will keep the glue inside the grip area in case the glue slides down the bar as the new grip is slipped on. Also (as said before) make sure the glue does not seal the throttle tube. You do not need to use much glue, so if you put the glue in the front to middle of where the grip goes you should be okay. Also when you put down the glue, do one at a time. Then squeeze the grip (where you put the glue) hard for a minute or two to make sure the glue makes contact between the grip and the bar as it dries. Also before you put down the glue put on the grips and figure where you want them if they have a design (mine do).
As for the vista cruise throttle locks, yes they come off if you grips are like mine. I have Kuryakyn ISO Grips and the universal vista cruise throttle lock. You will need a special piece from the manufacturer if you do. The locking part goes on the grip. Not a very good pic of how it looks, but can take another if you need it
PS: Do the right grip first, so you will be more confident when it comes to the throttle grip. I know this helped me.
