• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

How hard is it to replace hand grip on the RS. Did anyone do a How -to-video?. I think the left side is just cut off or pull off the grip and check prefit and them glue and re-install. On right side do you takr off the throttle housing or just losen and reinstall? and is there any adjustment in the return of the throttle speed? Also i already installed the Visata cruise throttle locks, Do they have to come - off?:dontknow:

now, this i would like to know myself, i was asking on here already some time ago but got no help at all. nice grips sitting on the shelf since :(

I just installed some Oxford grips. For them on the right side I had to cut off the rubber and reuse the throttle tube. Test fit before you glue the tube and grip.

I have iso grips.Just cut off the old grips.I did not take the right side apart just glue new iso to the plastic sleeve and you are done. Just make sure glue does not go between the plastic sleeve and the bar as you will glue the throttle from moving.:lecturef_smilie:

At least you will not need cruise control if that happens....:roflblack:

Be very careful with the throttle side, if you damage the plastic sleeve, there's a good chance you'll have to replace the whole throttle assembly.

Hand Grip Exchange

There was a video out 4-5 months ago that a new member had on the site of him changing out his grips. Anyone know what happened to the video!

Instead of glue, I wrap the handlebars with electrical tape. I then slide the grips on. If it is not tight enough to keep the grips from slipping, I wrap with more electrical tape. If too tight to get the grips on, I remove some tape. This way, there is no glue and no destruction of the grips or throttle housing if I decide to remove the grips sometime in the future.

Have been doing this for years...

If you want to take off your grips without destroying them, this is how I did it. When I changed my grips I took off the end caps and sprayed WD-40 in between the grip and the bar. I Then slid a skinny Phillips head screwdriver between the grip and the bar. Moved the screwdriver around the bar until I found the glue spot, as when they are put on they seem to only put glue on one area. Use the screwdriver to break the glue hold and slide off the grip from the handle. You can do this for both sides. Make sure you clean off the WD-40 from the bar. I used those alcohol wipes that clean glasses.

Installing is simple too. Make sure they fit, and see if they do not turn too much. If they do then do like MarkLawson did, and wrap the bar with electrical tape to make a better fit. When you glue the grips on. Put the glue on the top of the bar between the starting end and the middle of where the grip ends and slide it on. This will keep the glue inside the grip area in case the glue slides down the bar as the new grip is slipped on. Also (as said before) make sure the glue does not seal the throttle tube. You do not need to use much glue, so if you put the glue in the front to middle of where the grip goes you should be okay. Also when you put down the glue, do one at a time. Then squeeze the grip (where you put the glue) hard for a minute or two to make sure the glue makes contact between the grip and the bar as it dries. Also before you put down the glue put on the grips and figure where you want them if they have a design (mine do).

As for the vista cruise throttle locks, yes they come off if you grips are like mine. I have Kuryakyn ISO Grips and the universal vista cruise throttle lock. You will need a special piece from the manufacturer if you do. The locking part goes on the grip. Not a very good pic of how it looks, but can take another if you need it

PS: Do the right grip first, so you will be more confident when it comes to the throttle grip. I know this helped me.

Just did mine 4 days ago. Had to cut old ones off. WD40 would not go under old grip. slipped new ones on to see how they would fit and it was so tight of a fit that if I had tried to glue them on I would be in big trouble. Couldn't get them off to put glue on them so just left them the way they are. They work perfectly.:ohyea:

And now for the stupid grip question of the day! - :opps:

The Phantom has the anti-vibe bar ends installed. I really like how the weighted ends keep the vibration down, but would like to go to a different grip. How limited am I in terms of grip choices? Has anyone found a grip that works well and allows you to keep your anti-vibes on? Would Grip Puppies be a better solution for this application? Thanks for humoring me.
