• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Isci spy fan can 10

I installed the fancan on my 2010 RT last week. I am, frankly, amazed and happy with the result. While the feeling of heat isn't completely gone from my right foot, it's easily 90% less. I can ride on my highway pegs for as long a I want, whereas I could only do that for a few minutes before. BTW, I rode 300 plus miles this past weekend in 90% plus weather.

It's a great mod!

Fredace did your bike have a plastic chield that directs air to the opening and cover the bolts that the fancan ataches to. My 2011 has a cover over the bolts on the bike fan and looks very hard to get to. It looks like I might need to take the cover off and install the fancan and reinstall the plastic air director. Looks like it would be very involved to remove it.

ISCIRIDE I think that your site needs to come up with a complete install procedure to install the fancan on a RT or S 2011 spyder. I took all the out side tuppeware off and found the inside schroud that covers the bolts to the fan that you show on your site and instructions. Not even close to what we need to do to install the fancan.I beleave that the inside schroud needs to be removed first. Maybe I'm missing something but it looks like we will have to go a lot farther into the RT to install same. Pleas gives us help. I have the fancan now and backed off installing the thing. :agree: Mine in sitting in the garage. Bought it at Daytona Bike Week with no instructions. But don't see how it will fit.

i just looked and see the same thing you are. Was interested in this, but i really don't use the footpegs right now so, i'm thinking to hold off. I'd really like to know where the heat is going like previously asked....The engine answer doesnt make me feel that great/ WDIK

SPY-FANCAN-10 Installation

The instructions for the installation of the SPY-FANCAN-10 which is what fits all RT models and some 2009 and all 2010 and later RS models are combined with the original instructions for the SPY-FANCAN. The installation is the same and the only difference is how you get to the Spyder's cooling fan. For the RT we refer you to the Spyder Shop Manual to remove what is necessary to get to the fan.

In the 2010 Spyder RT Shop Manual on page 68 it tells what body panels to remove.
- Middle Side Panel
- Top Side Panel
- Bottom Rear Side Panel
- Bottom Front Side Panel
- Rear side Panel

It also tells you to remove the headlight adjustment cable from the LH middle side panel support. This is a misprint in that it should be the RH!! Regardless, we didnt remove this at all. We left this connected to the middle side panel support.

Next item to remove is the RH middle side panel support. Since we didnt remove the headlight adjuster we just swung the RH middle side panel support out of the way to get to the fan.

We did not include this information in the installation instructions simply because it is already in the shop manual. But we will add this to the instructions and hopefully this will eliminate any confusion that anyone may have in the future!

We are sorry for any trouble this may have caused.

Let me start by saying that I am in the process of installing several ISCI products and they are first rate, especially the hand brake and the instructions with that.

However the instructions for the fan can did leave quite a bit to be desired. I just installed mine this week (2010 RT) and I haven't had time to post pics or tips, but I will offer this one tip. Remove the skins as described below, then simply loosen the black plastic framework that the skins attach to and pull it out slightly, you don't have to remove any bolts from the fan itself, ONLY loosen them slightly, enough to work the fan can tabs between the plastic shroud and the fan. Now I will give you the MOST important tip that helped me get the fan can in, and it helped tremendously. If you are looking at the fan can (closed side toward you and the exit vent to your left (as it would be mounted on the fan) If you "dog ear" the top most corner of the exit tab to 90 degrees, this allows you to slip the fan can in without having to remove that plastic shroud. I saw NO way to get it in without doing this. I worked on it quite a while twisting every which way. I "dog eared" that top corner of the exit tab, and it went in within 5 minutes. If you want, you can bend it back out after installed and retaining bolts are tightened. Just my two cents from a recent install. Hope it helps some of you! :2thumbs: [edit] be sure to use pliers and gloves, that steel is SHARP! I know...

By the way, I am combining the ISCI fan can with the LaBlock by SpyderPops for even more heat redirection. I'll post the results in my mods post after I get the RT put back together.

Yep!! :agree:

Maybe cut a hole in the skid pan, add a short tube or something to connect to the fan can outlet directing the hot air from the can out and underneath the bike, that way you not sending the heat back to the engine?

I installed lots of fancans at Spyderfest, on GS/RS and RT. Its a breeze on the GS/RS, more involved on the RT because more body panels have to be removed. I didn't disconnect the headlight adjuster on any of the installs. The fancan itself installs under the loosened heads of two existing bolts on the radiator fan. One of the bolts is hard to get to, an offset open or offset box wrench and/or a wobble socket drive extension would be most helpful.

I am curious on how well these work? It seems that putting the hot air back into the engine area could mean that your seat will be even hotter too. The hot air is going to rise.

I'll let you know for certain in my mods section in about a week. Supposed to get very hot here, so that will be a good test... I'll try to remember to post it here also.

By the way, LOVE your RSS my very favorite BRP color. Wish I could have gotten the RT in that color. :2thumbs:

Well,,, I finished my Fan Can install (along with a half dozen other mods).
I even combined the Fan Can with a SpyderPops LaBlock.

Here is my update on the Fan Can install.

I ran the RT for several hours this afternoon in 90 plus degree heat.

I noticed NO increase in engine temp post-install versus pre-install.
Of course, I did remove the lower splash pan.

There was NO noticable increase in heated air rising around my seat or glove box.

There was a significant decrease in heat (read no heat) coming out of the upper opening. The Fan Can combined with the LaBlock eliminated heat in that area. I did notice more heat coming out of the lower area and would like to see a second LaBlock for the lower opening. It seems to me that taking off the lower splash pan has allowed that heat to dissipate completely out the lower section of the RT.

On a scale of 1-10, I give this combo a 9 because nothing is perfect after all...
