• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Is this stuff these people are saying true ???

BahaRon said most of it, here's MY two cents. My Spyder was new in April of '08, never had a code, biggest problem has been finding time to ryde. Only problem that took it off the road was a split coolant tank. Close to 20K miles, really happy with it.
I've owned Harleys, Triumphs, Nortons, Enfields, and just about everything else with the exception of Guzzi and BMW, never had this much FUN on any of them.
One area where really disagree with "jerry" is the gas mileage, for instance, a Victory/Lehman Crossbow got 28 mpg in a crosscountry ride, friends of mine with GW trikes get 26 to 32 mpg, you can't compare a trike to a bike for mileage, but most naysayers do.

I met a guy at the Post Office today. He heard me ride in and he asked me about my Spyder. He rides an Ultra Glide. He was a nice guy and I enjoyed the conversation.

He asked me how I liked the Spyder and I told him the truth. He asked if I ever rode 2 wheels and I told him I had a Suzuki M109R as well. He rides with a friend that has an M109R and he likes them.

I told him I haven't ridded my Suzuki hardly at all since I got my Spyder. He asked me why not? Maybe figuring I can't handle that much bike anymore. Maybe figuring I had to go to 3 wheels. That is the impression I got.

He said he would never give up 2 wheels and asked if I missed it. I said I did miss 2 wheels, that I love my 109 and I want to ride it. It's just that every time I go to the garage, I end up on the Spyder because it's just so much fun.

It's really all about mutual respect between 2 reasonable people that prefer different things.

But you know what happened when I left the PO? You guessed it. That guy was over looking at my Spyder. :D He had a few more questions!

Yes! It's all about respect! You win them 1 at a time folks!

Thank you so very much for all your responses. WOW !!! So much passion. They were all great. I really thought I would get one word replies or none at all. Or someone would start bashing me for my exploration into the reliability factor of our Spyder. I just needed to know, because like I said I'm new to the Spyder world I've always rode crotch rockets. On a positive note I would have never come across this site have I not had my issue with mine. And for that I'm thankful. I would never want to go back to before when she ran perfect and not have this site. IMO when a Spyder is purchased from the dealer and you sign and receive your paperwork, a brochure should be given to you directing you to Spyderlovers.com. Maybe I'm on to something here, so I have to add....... (copyright 2011 50% of any royalties off this idea shall be paid to ARNTUFUN and not to be used without consent.) LOL.

It never ceases to amaze me, just how defensive some folks get, when someone else doesn't gush over their Spyder like they do.....:roflblack:

Not sure if you're responding to my last post because I don't see the connection.

Honestly, I suppose there may be some out there, but I don't know any Spyder owner that feels this way. Most people don't gush, they just ask. If they ask, I talk to them. If they don't, doesn't bother me at all.

The guy I met today is glad I like my Spyder. I'm glad he likes his HD. I'd probably enjoy riding with him, hope he felt the same.

As a general rule, I can tell you that people on the Harley forums don't really care at all what Spyder riders think of Harleys........:doorag:

And vise-versa. :D

Like you, I did my homework. And Spyderlovers is a fine example. And if it wasn't for :spyder2:lovers, I would not have met in real life the Florida Hooligans, Euripedes Neves in Live Oak, FL and known about Spyderfest and the Spyder Owners Convention in Maggie Valley.

An historic moment might happen for me when I meet Lamonster... I may never wash my hand!!:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

A dedicated Harley owner came to my house (his wife works with mine and she is also a Harley woman, HOG Chapter members) and first thing they wanted to see was my :spyder2:. They were both impressed and wanted to ride one day.

However, the Harley dealer where I went to take my MSF classes, where very apprehensive and indirectly badmouthing the :spyder2:. Sure, they are trying to sell their product at any cost so to them a :spyder2: is a competitor so they have to shine their product and tarnish the opposing. The instructor even told me that after a while I can always buy me a Harley just so I can be in 2 wheels. In my mind I thought "Sure, but it will be a Honda, Yamaha or a Suzuki!"nojoke

I like to look at Harley's, but I agree with your statement, Ron. I am glad Harley owners love their bikes and I am sure they are happy that we love our :spyder2:s. In the end it is all about respect and enjoying the ride.

well i have found ONE (1) MAJOR issue with my :spyder:... And it was witnessed by my brother and his buddies who rode their HD's from MA to FL heading to the Keys...:gaah:

We went to a resturant to eat in Winter Haven... I parked between the 5 HD's... BTW 4 were brand new 2010's, all decked out... When we left the resturant, I had about 9 individuals checking out my :spyder:... :dontknow:The questions started when they seen me come up to her... My brother and buddies couldn't believe I was holding them up by answering all the questions that were getting thrown at me... Over 30 mins later, we finally headed out on the rode for the continued trip towards the Keys...

This also happened EVERY time we stopped for gas...:ohyea: It got to a point that they hated to gas up...:roflblack::roflblack: The attention that my :spyder:had recevied was overwhelming at times...

So ya... :agree:that there is a MAJOR issue... The attention you will receive will get you arriving LATE at your destination... :gaah:So leave early if you have to make stops.....

As for me... I loved it... Seeing the :spyder:getting all the love over new dressed HD's was the bomb....:yes:

There's a Harley and a Spyder in my garage. They are both there because I like them, not because of what someone else thinks about them. I come here to talk about Spyders, and go to other forums to talk about Harley's.

Obviously not, this entire thread is already devoted to what the original poster copied and pasted from complete stranger on a Harley Forum!...........

Must be Harley envy........:roflblack:

Some of the problem are 'Haters'. People who hate anything that isn't their brand.

Ok, so I don't own a Harely, never have. HD just does not appeal to me. So what? I dont' hate them, I just don't ride them.

I don't necessarily want to see everyone riding a Spyder, so why do some want everyone to ride their brand?

My brother-in-law rides a Harley and loves it! More power to him. Why should it bother me that he doen't want a Spyder? My brother rides an FJR and thinks the Spyder is a joke! (not so much since we did the twisties together awhile back).

Again, so what? Why should it bother me what someone else thinks? If I like it, I like it. And beleive me, over time, the Spyder skeptics are coming around.

Ride what you like, and like what you ride. But let the other guy do the same thing. It's all good!

My brother rides a Road King. My nephew rides a Honda. Guys in my riding club ride Harleys, Stars, Hondas, Boulevards. I'm the only Spyder. They don't give me any grief nor I them, except in joking. However, I will say that the dealer that sold me my :spyder2: currently has three traded in Harleys on the showroom floor. One of them a very very nice V Rod. Once mama learns to drive the :spyder2:I plan on getting a Honda Stateline or Sabre. Ryde what you like, but don't bad mouth something you know nothing about.

its amazing what harley has done in the market place....almost unbelievable! you never see anybody walking around with a tattoo of the coke symbol on there skin... but the bar and shield has been inked all over the body! what a great american success story.. i love it! there is a downside to it though...they are called "posers" or "rubies" (stands for rich urban bikers) i was one. dont know if i could handle someone that put on a black leather jacket and starts his harley and all of the sudden turns into a bad a** making fun of me actually being myself, not dressing up to try to be someone i am not, out enjoying the road on my spyder. everyone should read the book by jay barbieri "bikers handbook". its a fantastic read and doesn't pull any punches in explaining the difference between the real 1% ers and the guys that think they are cool because they make payments on a bike that says harley.

With over 2 years of Spyder riding, after 30 years of riding 2 wheeled cruisers, Jennifer and I have talked to more Harley riders about the Spyder than any other rider. Many are concerned about their legs getting weaker with age and the fear of the heavy bikes. They want to continue riding, so the Spyder looks like a way to do it. We have found that the Harley riders are also the most friendly to talk to when we say "Hi" first. The least friendly have been the GoldWingers. Even when we say "Hi" a nod is mostly what we get before they or we ride off. We don't really care what anyone rides...it's all the same wind.

Strange that someone would ask on an HD forum about what people thought of the Spyder.... don't see that over here for sure. Doesn't make sense--

Cracks me up---- an HD guy complaining about the SPYDER having vibrations? :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

There are very few HD's I care for-- or can even tell apart---zzzzz boring.

The Spyder is hands down the best trike on the road today. It will outperform any other trike-- especially an HD (which is just a conversion anyhow).

trike

Some people ask me why I didn't buy a Harley?
I say because I have no interest in one that's why.
I could buy any bike I wanted, I chose the spyder.

:bowdown:Just would like to say I enjoy the heck out of this forum! As far as people having differences is normal. We all have likes and dislikes and opinions about all kind of things so that is normal. When involved with a forum for what ever it is about you will always have the group that is unhappy posting more rather then people that have no issues. I've been a member of many a forum that I joined to help me through times when I needed information or help, being it for my recording studio and equipment use or tips for recording different interments. They are always a great help.
I decided to buy a bike again when my wife kept watching my eyes when a bike passed while on the road. She said that I should get back in to the saddle again. I'm going to be 66 in June, I think its time. A lot of my friends ride after I got them into bikes and they keep asking me to join then again? I first was looking at the Harley trikes, they are beautiful. The change to the spyder came when a friend of mine started complain about his Harley Trike. First it was the tour box leaked and Harley could not get it water tight. Next the bike would blow a breaker when he tried to back into his garage. He also complained about being very week on brakes and power. At $30,000.00 this should not be.
A different friend of mine who also rides a Harley bagger showed me a picture of the Can Am Spyder RT which really looked cool. I joined your users group and read many post, many being negative and many being proactive. I'm expecting to get the same smart remarks as many of you but you know what, I don't care!!! I will be picking my RTS up in April. Bought it at the bike show last month. Can not wait!!! :ohyea:Remember we are not on this earth to please every one, just a few. Bob :chat:

The Always Late Member was right on time with his response:yes:
We sold our Goldwing(71,00mi) shortly after we bought our Spyder and have not regretted a minute of our decision:ohyea:
Thanks for your speaking for many of us out here:thumbup:

You're going to love your Spyder. And very few will give you grief. We are probably making too much of that. It's the small percentage that get all the attention.

Hope you can make Spyderfest! Great event!

Cool reads fellas... Just adding...

I do not care one one person or another chooses a brand or has a blind bliss to a brand. They too buy gear and ryde. So by golly whether they like it or not they help us through purchases fund R&D or at least keep costs down because of volume sold.

Personally we like to ryde. And if others with open minds like to ryde with other open air type bike then all the better. If they keep it up all that will happen is what always happens. A strong following for both brands that help drive up sales...

Last time I checked Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki and Yamaha all copied Indian and Harley... :dontknow::doorag:

So I say good for them. Laugh and cry and put your nose all the way up. Just makes it easier for me to steal the place in line right in front of them in the roads we share. Hope they enjoy they view :roflblack::ohyea:
