• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Is this normal?

Went out for a ride today, and ended up stopping in a small town for something to drink. My girlfriend rides a Vulcan and shared the parking spot with me as we stood outside finishing up our drinks. All the sudden she grins at me and says 'I think you have an admirer' and sure enough here comes a guy who wants to check out the Spyder.
We had a good chat, and I let him sit on it,and you would have thought that I gave him a free car from the grin on his face. He didn't even look twice at the Vulcan, and she just laughed and told me to get used to it, folks will be over to talk about your bike every time you stop now.

Not having my Spyder for very long, only a week, is this normal to have folks all over your scoot & asking a zillion questions about it? I'm coming off a Roadking where no one looked twice at me, so this is all kind of new. Great way to get the word about how much fun the Spyder is, that's for sure!

Get used to it...when on the highway, sometimes I check all the eyes of drivers/opposing traffic and most are on my spyder as I go by...you'll get a lot of this as the spyder is still a novelty in most parts...

Yes, I have had the same thing happen to me. My husband jokingly said I thought that guy was going to ask to borrow my helment so you could take him for a ride. It is sure an attention getter.:2thumbs:

It's normal VERY normal;
Ive Had my Spyder for two years now, Still get all the questions.
I will let people sit on it and will answer any and all questions about the Spyder / the good and the bad.

they ask so many questions......

....... I have to keep the manual close by so I don't get anything wrong. Most people like it but .........some don't . Hard core Harley bikers have been cruel , and at one bar , close to Daytona,I was told I should park in the back. Not this Spyder Ryder. :doorag: No problems

I think I had more people inquire about my RS than I have since I got the RT-S. Part of it, I think, is that the RS looks so different. In answer to your question, Yes this is normal, at the gas station, coffee shop or wherever you stop. Enjoy your ride and the attention!

You'll soon learn to allow yourself more time than you would think you need whenever you take the Spyder out. Almost always someone at the filling station, restaurant, motel, etc. will want to talk to you about it (and sit on it if you don't care). You'll also see people on the highway driving along beside you with the cell phones taking pictures so keep a close lookout for those whose eyes are on you and not on the road :yikes:. Enjoy!

Happens to me all the time!

Happens to me all the time. It's now 12:20am, just got back from dinner at my favorite Surf's Bar and Grille here in Wilmington, NC and the Spyder got so much attention that the band playing tonight came back to the bike twice to talk to me more about it.

People seem to love it down here, and some are just flat confused how I get the wheelchair on the back!:roflblack:

This bike is awesome!

I remember the first one I bought in CT. On the ride home to Ohio I failed to allow time for people and their questions. The trip took me longer then I thought as I had so many people asking me questions. It did get me front row parking at Quaker Steak and Lube on bike night on the ride home, LOL.

I once had a car wreck coming at me because he was watching me and not the road. I am glad he hit the guard rail on the other side rather then me.

Pictures are a all the time thing, make sure to show that smile!

All very normal. Get ready for the questions like, "can you take it on the freeway?", "was that a snowmobile"?, and of course, "can you do a wheelie"? And for those timewasters, pick up a wad of brochures next time you're at the stealership.

Tripod :joke:

You got yourself a GUY MAGNET :2thumbs:
Its an all around magnet from guys to Gals to kids. I have never been honked at thumbed up , chased down even on the interstate wanting to know how it rides and how I like it. nojoke Its better than all my H.D.'s Ive had.

Welcome to the world of being a free BRP ambassador! nojoke

What everyone has said so far is so true. Chick magnet, causing wrecks, taking longer to get from point A to B, taking pictures with the cell and hundreds of questions. I've experienced them all in just over 5 weeks of ownership.

I think the gawkers are settling into two main categories. #1 is the group that aren't quite sure if I'm approachable and they always ask the exact same question..."do you like ryding that thing?" Odd question to ask, but it's a good ice breaker (I tell them it's so much fun it should be illegal). :D I always stop what i'm doing and talk to them because I get a kick out of the barrage of questions that follow. I like that idea of carrying brochures just for this group. :2thumbs: Group #2 are the current or former riders of 2 wheels. They ask the technical questions and and are genuinely the nicest and most respectful of the groups. They are VERY hesitant to ask if they can sit on it and rarely ask how much it costs.

Ya, get used to it.

Number one question 1 get is How Does it Handle. or How do You Like it and i say. i dont like it I love it... :2thumbs:

On our May ryde in Las Vegas, My wife and I were the first to arrive at the famous Las Vegas sign where we were to meet the rest of the group. There was a tour bus there. We are now famous in Japan. Everyone on board the bus wanted to have their picture taken sitting on the :spyder2:. Grins all around. Even the bus driver wanted his picture taken.

You will find people giving you the "Thumbs Up!" from their car windows all the time!!:D

PS: I did get ONE thumbs down in Farmington, CT one day?:dontknow:

welcome to the world of Spyder ownership. Now that you have been bitten the ryde will never be the same. Always allow extra time when travelling, usually at least 15 minutes per gas stop, as the questions will never end. I actually ran out of the little BRP brochures, and need to find some more now. I like to give those out as well as dealer cards for those who seem genuinely interested.

It is a good thing overall, except for the occassional accidents that are caused. :D
