• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Is this normal

RED RIDER

After a 20-30 minute ride and a 15-20 minute stop my Spyder runs rough
and sputters for a mile or so after start up. It does this all the time not just a isolated incident. Shop cant seem to find any problems. Runs
fine the rest of the time. I have had the upddates. :helpsmilie:

Its not normal. It would be normal IF the Spyder cooled completely down, but not in 15-20 minutes. I am in Northwest AR if you are in the area and want me to confirm before you take it back to the shop. Also, we can compare to mine and you'll have proof that your's needs repair.

I would also say not normal. Mine will only sputter on a completely cooled engine.

You'll need to look at the temp guage to get more info. The Rotax doesn't seem to like running until you hit 1-2 bars - but I would think only 15-20 minutes it should be back up to temp pretty quick--- for sure quicker than when you just started out for the day.

Does it run rough otherwise?

Have you had either of the DPS software patches done?

Any modifications to exhaust or intake?

Mine seems to run fine -- frosty, cold, cool, warm or hot.

If it has ever "sputtered" I have simply not noticed.

I rode all last winter temp's as low as 15, I just pull out of my garage and go. I don't wait for any temp. bars. No sputtering/rough runing, But in my opinion i think Spyder's are put together a little different from each other . Either from the factory or dealer's set up. Some run great some need a little tweaking. That's the nature of a low volume bike manufacturer.

I'd bet one of the temperature sensors (ambient or h2o)is off in that restart range.....but functions ok at cold start and normal run temps.... causing it to run the incorrect fuel map during the open loop restart.......

That reminds me... Didn't the problem with some dealers not installing the ambient temp sensor in the proper location cause some running issues? I can't remember exactly.

I believe it's ziptied out of the way during shipping until the trunk is installed. Some of the dealers were missing the repositioning step during set-up.......

Yep, that's what I'm talking about. I don't remember how the first people who found the uninstalled sensor were prompted to look for it. Just blind luck or they had engine running issues? :dontknow:

They missed mine, but I don't remember any issues. I found mine when I installed the 12volt outlet in the trunk. My roadster was the first delivery from this dealer. i did let them know. Wondered why it seemed so hot out.
