There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Is there an answer for my challenge???

As you all know, from previous posts, I have had some issues with Ms Spyder...limp mode, almost constant check engine lite, rough running, shudders. Plus I had the Spyder on the buds the last day of business for my servicing dealer in Spokane, WA..After much research I decided that Clem's in Enumclaw was where I would take my Spyder. Did that and here is the issue..when BUDS are run that report is than "archived" on that laptop. BECAUSE the laptop that showed all my issues was at the Spokane dealership and they are closed Clem's has no way to have those records to get authorization from BRP to do the warranty work (BEST warranty). And I understand that.
..After many phone calls I reached the Roundy's who owned the Spokane dealership...I have had several different answers from them...from BRP took all are records...to a different person (Mrs. Roundy) saying yes, yes I will get that call me back in an hour. Ahhhh now a non working phone number. So clear conclusion is Roundy's is not able or willing to get that BUDS report to Clem's...and Clem's cannot do anything without it.
Clem's has gotten a code for 02 sensor...but the service manager says it is the Evap canister (that gets overloaded) but changing it out isn't going to fix the problem...it will just plug up again. I asked if it was under the warranty and he said yes. But not willing, at this point, to replace.
So my only conclusion is that I have to retrieve the Spyder and run it until it literally dies...hoping/praying that when it does I am within tow range.
Sooooo I am looking for other solutions, if there are any. Sooooo input please...all opinions taken with an open mind....thanks

My first thought is the information on that computer should be the property of BRP. Once a dealer ends their relationship with BRP for any reason. And, if not turned over. BRP, should take action. Hate to think of how many people stand to have their records disappear ....because of a failed dealer BRP relationship.

I'm thinking about your situation. If I have anything of value I'll be back. Had to get that off my chest first.

Don't know..!!

if in fact they turned over all their records to brp Clem should explain to brp the situation. Not familiar with brp dealers but we had some operations that went direct to the manufacturer as well as the local computer. If this is the case they should have the records by vin #... At this point it's a brp problem (you suffer) they should find the way...!! :dontknow:

I'm with you. While I honestly have no idea whether records are stored by both parties or just the dealer. If it is dealer only. What happens if a dealer simply loses a computer? Fire, theft, damaged beyond retrieval, etc.

MurphyB.......call BRP to see if they keep backup records and/or if they have the rights to those of a failed dealer.

Sorry to hear your former dealer was a dud. Their mistake really was in clearing the codes out of BUDS. Running the Spyder a while to build up the codes again...or letting Clem's ride it for a week or two, sounds like the least frustrating answer. Think lemonade!

2000 miles since Spokane buds

even after 2000 the only code they find us for the 02 sensor, evap canister. I asked if that would create the almost constant check engine light. Said no but no other codes show. I suggested they ride it like they owned (not just around the block)...don't remember a significant response...yep I'm working on lemonade. :banghead::banghead: That's me squeezing the lemons :roflblack:

Path of least resistance. While it IS the easy way it's not always the best way. jmo

Good luck MurphyB

Depending on what code they get, the O2 sensor code could just be a symptom, not the cause...as they said. Not sure what they are saying about the evap canister, but the purge system is readily tested. They should not be reluctant to do so. I'd also reflash the ECM. Bad ECM or bad coil will often not leave codes that directly point to them...if they leave codes at all. What are you running for plug wires? If they are OEM, I'd replace them with some BajaRon wires and new plugs. Beyond that it gets into forgetting the stupid diagnostics and doing good old fashioned mechanical troubleshooting. Checking valve clearances, running a compression test or leakdown test, and even replacing the O2 sensors just out of general principles are typical approaches. Did you talk to Jeff? He is pretty sharp.

It's a puzzle that needs solved....

I'm guessing Karyl won't go away easy! I'll even say she won't go away at all!! Good luck!

Oh oh let you know to much about me John.....:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack: Yep I am determined and bull headed and persistant and just plain stubborn when it comes to finding the right solution to any issue. Actually I am just a sweet, meek, little ole' great grannie with grey hair and wrinkles and Maxine as my role model :yikes:

Yes Jeff and Randy are who I am talking to. I have the bajaron wires and plugs (while in Spokane they found one of the plugs was burnt black) installed Spyderfest 2012. I am making copious notes...heck I'm going to be able to talk like I reallllly know mechanics of Spyder :yikes: What are the name of bajaron plugs?...Jeff said there is only one kind of plug. Spokane tech said I had the reallllly good plugs but he had to replace with a NGK (think that's what he said) cause their stock was depleted..since in their last hours of business. Thanks for all your input...this is why I love Spyderlovers...

NGK Iridium # 8 Spark plugs; BajaRon Sparkplug wires needed

Hi Karyl, Arizona Jim here. Sorry to hear you are having problems with your RT.
If Spyderfest pit crew put in #9 Iridium Sparkplugs, they are too cold of a plug for your RT & would probably be fouled/black inside the tip of sparkplug.
Sparkplugs should be #8 NGK Iridium for your RT.
Like Scotty said, putting in new #8 NGK Iridium sparkplugs & BajaRon Sparkplug wires may solve your O2 sensor code & orange screen.
(stock sparkplug wires break down inside when changing sparkplugs, especially #1 cylinder).
I would also put in a new air filter while side panels are off for new sparkplugs installed.
Ask Spyder mechanic to pull the purge valve hose off top of gas canister & put a bolt to plug the vacuum hose; pull gas vent hose off on top of canister, start up your RT & test to see if your canister code clears, (bypassing gas canister).
It is probably something simple like I discribed above. Wish I was closer to help get your Spyder RT back on the road.
Show your mechanic my suggestions & go from there. Good to meet you at Spyderfest! Jim

I posted the question to my Service Manager (she is very helpful) so as soon as she gives me the poop I'll post the answer.

can you retrieve the fault code history of a spyder with the VIN number? Does BRP save that info or is it only on the mechanics laptop?
I'm asking for a friend who's dealer closed their doors.

JT

OK, the fouled plug helps pin things down a bit. The fact that there was only one fouled indicates that a problem that would affect both cylinders, like a purge valve/evap canister problem, is not at the root of things. I would look carefully at that spark plug wire, check the coil/ECM connections, consider replacing the coil, and possibly reflash the ECM. That particular O2 sensor is suspect, too, which would explain your fault codes. I'd replace it before I did anything else, then look at the ignition related items above.

BajaRon's plugs are the NGK iridium plugs.

No that was there

Had a problem with my RT and took it to another dealer closer to where I live and that dealer was able to look up my RT's history by plugging the VIN # in his computer, so I find it difficult to believe your Spyder's history isn't available to the new dealer.

History as far as work done was there...Clem's had that all printed out and ready to go when I arrived. BUT what they don't have access to is the report from the BUDS . Work orders...yep aplenty.

Just curious....if traveling and have a Spyder problem...the out of town dealer does not have access to history of your Spyder? I thought the computer system BUDS would be available to any dealer with BUDS
