Is there a 2019 RT Limited Floorboard mod to make it like 2020 RT?

Has anyone seen or heard of a 2019 RT Floorboard modification like the 2020 RT. I love the way it feels and give me more comfort due too 2 knee replacements, I can stretch out more. I don't mind removing the lower piece off the Spyder to make it fit?

The whole tupperware is different in that area and I believe the air flow/location of the radiators was changed to make that happen. I have ridden my 2018 and a brand new 2021(5.2 miles on it when I started riding it for two afternoons) in my trike class.

Like Snoking said, the tupperware is completely different. I think, had I been able to stretch out more on my '18 RT, I might have kept it. I couldn't so I traded it in on my '21 RT. As you've already noticed, it's a LOT more comfortable for those of us with bad knees. You probably don't want to ride around missing much tupperware, especially up front. That directs air to the radiators.

The only possible option I know of is highway pegs. There are a number of designs but other than trying individual designs I don't know of another alternative.

To me, the closest thing for the earlier model RT's to compare to the 2020+ RT is the Seal or Web Boards models. They allow for much more room than the oem floorboards. I actually put the mini boards on my 2014 RT and loved them. However neither of those places are in business anymore, and you would have to find a used set.

I think the OP wants to put boards that go further forward, not out. At 6'3" tall the 2021 running boards allowed that for me in the trike class, however adjusting to the brake pedal took a bit. I would have been nice if they had provide a dual brake with a right hand handle bar brake that duplicated the foot brake function. Then with highway pegs you would not have to try to get your foot back to the brake pedal, when brakes are needed.

I tried highway pegs on my '18 RT (actually Pierres floating floorboards....very nice). The problem is that they raised my feet. That put me in an uncomfortable riding postion. I didn't need "up and forward" only "forward". The new RTs foot position is just about perfect. It WOULD be perfect if I set back another couple of inches. (I know a Comfort seat would do that but I'm not ready to spend $600 just yet.)

I agree on the right hand brake. I'd prefer ONLY a right hand brake w/NO foot brake. I don't see that happening so I don't complain. You get used to the new RT foot brake position pretty quickly. I think it's a heck of a lot better than the previous generation. Much easier to get to and you don't have to lift up your entire leg just to reach it. Once I've got my foot on top of it, I can rest my heel on the floorboard making for some much better controlled braking instead of mostly on or off. Again, if I could scoot back a couple of inches, I could leave my heel on the floorboard even when reaching for the brake.

HAGO!

I have not experienced a newer RT for comparison, so I can only relate experience on my wife's '17.

My knees are not bad enough to cause me any problems, but I do appreciate being able to move around a bit. In my limited time riding HER bike, I have not had any problems, but we had boards installed while at Maggie Valley in October. They are the "Floating Boards" from Can-Am Spyder Accessories. They do allow a few more inches of leg movement that even you short guys would appreciate. At my 6' 5", it's even more appreciated.

You are talking sense there, please stop. :joke:

If there is any one thing that bugs me about the Spyder, it's the fact that I have to lift my entire leg to get my foot off the floorboard to step on the brake pedal. It's even more difficult when in a left-hand turn and you are bracing yourself with your right leg. On top of that, you need to modulate pressure with your entire leg, not just your ankle muscles. Yes, a hand control would be welcome, but it's not all that easy to manipulate the hydraulic actions involved. For example: if you were squeezing a bit on the hand control then stepped on the foot brake, the pressure from the foot brake would have to push the hand control back to its 'home' position before doing any useful work on the brake disks. And once the hand lever is back in its 'home' position, there is that little compensation port that allows for fluid expansion when it warms up. That would also allow pressure from the foot control to escape. There are reports of hand controls that have been added, I just don't know if they were hand control ONLY or if they were in tandem with the foot control.

Maybe not that hard, doesn't the brake fluid flow to the Anti lock brake unit and then to the brakes? Need a brake system engineer to really analyze the issue.

I think many people dont like the footbrake only setup all the reasons stated by others."There is a company that makes a hand brake setup that simply pushes on your foot pedal, problem is its like 1300 and some work to install.Lamonster built his own setup that was cable operated but I dont think he plans on releasing it as a product for sale or maybe hes still working on it.
