• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Is the Spyder slow?

Ninja 250? 500cc or bigger will easily pull away from the RT through the gears.

The Ninja was two up and we stayed with up through the gears. We didn't get too close because they weren't dressed to crash and his pride was hurt enough that he started to pop it up. Still recovering from my crash last year I didn't want to be around him anymore and see a crash.

I'm happy the way it is.

:agree:

My back tire lasted only 7255 miles - I did a couple of full throttle take offs with it. Is it faster then most 2 wheelers? Nope - but its plenty fast for me. I'm sure that you can take most cars from a stop.

Slow down - enjoy the ryde. (I should take my own advice :yikes:)

Every spring when I park my 800 arctic cat snowmobile and get on my Spyder I think..... DAMN this thing is a slug. There's nothing like lifting those skis to 60mph on the sled. The acceleration is CRAZY

Comparing a 6/700lb bike to a 1300+lb bike means there will be a difference. Compared to my Goldwing, the Spyder is just as fast, if not faster.

Well I will not say the Spyder is slow but I know for sure my ST1100 will eat it for lunch and not
miss a beat...

Sooo how long did it take you to get to the point that you thought your Spyder was pretty slow? I have ridden bikes that you seem to hang onto the handlebars on launch and the Spyder doesn't do that. Don't get me wrong I am speeding by the time I am out of second gear on any road but a super slab and it does spin up fast enough it just seems the acceleration thrill is gone now that I have gotten used to it.:dontknow: It just seems to me to wind through the gears too fast to get the thrill back. :ohyea: My Gen1 Goldwing seemed faster ( I know it wasn't just SEEMED to be) than my RT.

Compared to?

Heavy and slow. Define fast? 0-60? 100?
Will it beat other bikes? Lots of variables. Runs out of steam at 105.
Fun? You bet!

We come back to the fact that this is not a motorcycle. Compared to bikes this is a massive machine bigger than some cars they are spitting out today. The weight to power ratio is a tad different. So if you continue to ryde both the spyder may seem to loose power but it is very quick for what it is...I feel no change since day one...

I was sitting by a river having lunch yesterday with the '08GS parked close by. I remember thinking to myself "that thing is huge". I have had a Yamaha V-Max in the past & when the V-Boost kicked in it ripped your arms off. I'm past that now & just enjoy the Spyder for what it is.
It sure goes round the bends a lot faster than the V-Max did.
