• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. :roflblack:

It's has a (motor) engine
Kyklos "circle, wheel". Greek origin

It's a no brainer.

Yes. Purists may be upset..BRP may not like the marketing consequence, but make no mistake, it's a motorcycle

Trikes are also mentioned. Only bicycle restricts the wheel amount and location.

NO

What is the spyder? I see some stated requireing motorcycle licience and others not. Should motorcycle laws apply to the spyder? I think after owning and operating a spyder that it is in a class all to its own, not a car or a motorcycle .
-----------------------------------------
as much as some folks want to think
the Spyder RT & RS models are bikes
they are NOT a bike or motorcycle
They are a 3 wheel trike.
Any motorcycle rider will confirm that
Sorry guys

"Motorcycle means a motor vehicle with motive power having a seat or saddle for the use of the rider and designed to travel on not more than three wheels in contact with the ground. Motor-driven cycle means a motorcycle with a motor that produces 5-brake horsepower or less."

Perhaps Harley trikes, ATCs, and quads are cars too lol

Or perhaps let's take this a bit further.
The B-2 is not an airplane. It's shape and propulsion differ from the original concept and without significant technological intervention, it wouldn't fly.
(See a similarity yet?). Tell the pilots they are recreational riders or drivers?

The motorcycle has been around since the 1800s. We own a variant. They couldn't possibly fathom the spyder any more than we can build the first Jet bike... Oh god, that wouldnt be a motorcycle either.. What if had wheels though lol

In Alberta it's classed as a motorcycle however if you road test for your license on a Spyder or any "trike" you get a motorcycle (class 6) license with a condition attached for "3 wheeled vehicles only".

Is it a motorcycle

Observation.

It appears it's not a motorcycle to some until they need to defend its quirks by comparing it to a motorcycle. Then, to make their argument, they waste no time comparing it to a motorcycle.

Is it.....or isn't it.

A motorcycle?

Just to muddy the waters a bit.
What do you call a stock Gold Wing with a "Tow Pac" unit on the back end. I have heard stories about them being stopped by the cops for having 4 wheels on the ground.
I believe right now, a three wheel scooter truck is a motorcycle, like used on a gold course.
