• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Is the RT Limited worth the $8000 more from the Base RT?

So I'm at a Dealer today having my alignment done on the 08 GS. and I started to talk to a sales guy about buying an RT. I told him I would be fine with the Base model and he looks me straight in the eye and says, "No you wouldn't" I say.... really, why? He says, weill you don't get all the gages that you get on the High models, or the suspension adjustment, and it doesn't have rear speakers... So I tell him, ok... well. if it doesn't have the dial gauges, it still will have the electronic ones on the display, why do I need two, and I'm riding an 08 Roadster, I think this suspension would be like driving on a pillow compared to mine, and lastly, I can purchase a set of speakers for about $100 bucks and whuala.... Rear speakers, I just saved myself about $8000. "lol"

My point is I was disappointed he was so admit that I purchase a model I truly did not want. He before that conversation appreciated that I'm a spyder owner and that I had a very good knowledge base and understanding of the machines... He lost a sale today, cause if he played it right I might have done it!!! :banghead:

Lastly to all the 14 RT owners coming from an older RT, is it that big of a difference? Good deals on the 13 leftovers..

Thanks,
Rich

It's a two-way conversation, but you as the customer, must control it. If you're really interested in the RT, don't let your issues with a salesman, who is doing his job, influence you beyond what you want. Listen to what he has to tell you, give it due consideration & then make your choice. If you find you simply cannot do business with him, go to someone else or some place else.

Bottom line is this, if you want the RT, don't punish yourself because a salesman rubbed you the wrong way.

Interesting, mine too had 0 psi when i brought it home. I checked with the dealer and was told they do not put air in the rdear bag. They leave it up to the drivers discretion.

I call BS on this. The dealer should put air into it as part of their set up procedure. It is unsafe to run without air pressure. They are supposed to adjust it based upon rider preference and/or weight and/or riding condtions (2 up etc).

I traded my 2011 RT SpyderFest Special addition (#2 of 5) for a 2014 RT base model while at SpyderFest this year. Len had added fog lights, but other than than it was stock. My first move was to add my Seal Floorboards ($500. rather than BRP's $1,000. smaller ones. I put a Sway Bar on and off I went. I used my old, after market Canadian, trailer hitch and swapped seats which had an Ultimate Back Rest and Diamond R arm rests, rather than the BRP $400+ back rest, which does not adjust. I saved a ton of money and have all the new features. I have sevral dealers who automatically put my Seal Floorboards n the base model RT and they fly out the door.

Ride in comfort,
John

With the long trips 1000 miles or so, the 14 upgrades is what it took to purchase one. Amazing diff and makes my wife able to ride. The base is so different that it is worth the $7500 in difference.

I went to an in state dealer yesterday. He only stocks RTSs and LTDs. NO base RTs. Kinda limits your choices. My choice is an RTS. Building an RT up to near RTS equipment would cost more because of labor charges. I just have to figure out how to add a GPS in a better position than the OEM one. Don't need the chrome, the fancy seat, or the stinking funk suitcase.

If you're paying labor, absolutely true. I'm turning my RT A&C into an S, been able to find most of the items at a good bit less than BRP retail and doing the installs myself. The chrome bits are done, fogs are going in this weekend. Hopefully next weekend I'll have time to tackle the air suspension and rear speakers/controls.
