• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Is the High pitched whine after shut down normal?

Not sure if this is normal, but after I shut everything off on my 23 F3-T, there is a high pitched whine. Anyone else experienced this?

After you shut the engine down the system re-boots.... Mine makes the sound also ....Mike

Yes, it is normal. The ECU keeps the throttle body slightly closed after shutdown. Since it is a 'Fly-by-Wire' system (electric motor actuates the throttle body butterflies). What you hear is that motor whine. I don't remember the time interval. But it does time out after a bit and the whine goes away.

On the early Spyders, it's something like 30-40 minutes... Not sure it's quite so long on the later Spyders tho?! :dontknow:

I misspoke on post #4. The throttle body servo holds the butterflies CLOSED, not open. (edited & fixed)

I believe the startup default setting is 8 degrees open. Which previous, cable controlled Spyders used. The reason BRP did this with all Fly-by-Wire models, I've been told, is that leaving the throttle body open allowed residual fuel vapors to migrate creating a possible explosive mixture. Supposedly, there was a possibility of Run-On or even fire, in extreme cases.

I can't verify the 2nd answer, but the Closed vs Open, that is for sure.

So, my Spyder has been sitting in the garage for 1 hour and 15 minutes, and it’s still making the whining noise.

I never owned an F3 but I'd hear a high pitched whine every time I'd shut down either of my RTs. Turns out the whine was coming from me.

So, the noise I was hearing was the gas tank venting. Another member suggested I check that, and it immediately stopped when I opened the cap.
