Is the heat issue resolved with the 2014's??

I thought I was buying my dream machine when I bought the 2013 RT-L. Unfortunately it was one of the ones with the brake manifold recall. The machine really blasts out the heat - hot foot, hot legs and hot air that wafts up and under my helmet when stopped for traffic. Lift the seat to add gas and it is really hot!

Has the heat issues been solved with the 2014's??

If so, I am tempted to trade my '13. Life is too short to put up with misery. Impressions from 2014 owners would be really appreciated. Many thanks.

Here's the thing..!!

the 2014 is a totally different machine. So far there has been no problem with the heat issues you had. They made many changes so if you are continuing to have problems it would be the way to go....:dontknow:

None

Over 6000 miles on my 14 RT-L since 20 March 14. Rode through Nashville and Knoxville TN with the temp in the low 90s on my way home from Spyderfest. No heat issues.

I dumped IT!!

I went for a ride on my 2013 and was so hot after riding half way thru town, that I had had enough with the heat blowing onto my right foot and up into my face.......my Spyder had to go or I would quit riding.

Fortunately, I have a good dealer and they generously allowed me to give the 2014RT a real test ride. Yes, I took a beating on the trade but I now own the 2014 RT Ltd, Cognac with brown seat.

My heat issues seem to be a thing of the past.....someone else's problem now. If the first 300km on my 2014 are foretelling the future I WILL LOVE this machine. The difference between the two machines is night and day; no heat issues, better power two-up riding and smooth shifting. I defer to the ride when down-shifting now.

Perhaps I finally have my Dream Machine.:clap: According to my salesman, BRP now says that the RT finally has the motor it deserves. :2thumbs:

Heat Issues............

1600 miles in TX with no heat issues. Been unusually cool here (85F), but my 2013 RTL had boiling gas and other heat problems at 70F. BRP looks as if they have solved the heat problem. The 2014 RTL 1330 ACE is very good so far. I am having problems with my key/ignition, but that is on recall and will be addressed when I return to my dealer.

2013's

So who is going to buy these 2013 RT's, everyone and his dog seems to have traded them in for 2014 models, there must be a glut of them sitting in the dealerships.

Hey NZ Ryder

Good afternoon NZ. I had many problems with my 2013 RTL? Just a lemon I guess? I really like the 2014 RTL. But, I have a good friend that has a 2013 RTL with no problems, just minor heat problems that he has addressed with heat shields. The 2014 is a fine machine...the 2013 RTL went back to the dealer.

I'd agreed with the salesman 100% :agree:

Not just the 2013's, but all of the previous generation bikes. There is a glut on the market, which makes it a good time to buy if you don't care about the triple.

In spite of all the complaints I see on here I know a lot of folks who have bought the 2013 and earlier trade ins at good prices and are very happy with them. My dealer is having no trouble whatsoever selling trade ins
(and he is selling approx 12 new 2014 s per month) . Many of the trade ins are selling in less than a week.

No Heat, Just Warm Air

On mine, warm air does come thru the side vents and is noticeable only if you ride with your feet up on NBV pegs. Even then, its not objectionable; however, for summer, I cut a couple pieces of aluminum flashing, painted them black and attached them to the back of the grills with nylon ties. No need for air to come thru the grills if you don't want it to, what with the hugh openings behind the radiators over the wheel wells. Theres been no change in the temp gauge since I did this.

Come winter, I'll remove the aluminum as the warm air feels good on the feet.

BRP did their homework and is building a refined machine in the 1330. . Can't find a thing to complain about, other than the rear tire aught to last longer than 5-6000K. 5600 on mine and its slick in the center. Ordered a Pirelli P4 (205-60-15) yesterday. Used this on my '11 and it was wearing good when I traded it.
