Is it windshield v. full face helmet????

I didn't think I would want a bigger windshield but after riding on the freeway for a while and thinking if I am making some long treks this year I might want to reconsider

Arai Vecotor full face for me, its the only helmet that fits comfortablly on my egg shaped head

I was getting quite a bit of head buffeting with the BRP stock windshield. I upgraded to the larger touring BRP windshiled abd this did reduce the buffeting a bit. After listening to many I finally orderd a larg Calsci windshield. The older I get the more the buffeting and wind noise bothers me. Full face helmet and the Calsci should get me to a very comfortable zone.

I get buffeting when riding on the back of the Spyder but not on the front. I also wear a full face helmet.

I think that a properly sized and designed touring windshield is necessary for anyone who wants to decrease their head / neck strain caused by the wind during higher speed riding. That won't change no matter if you've got a shorty, 3/4, full face or modular helmet. However, an improperly sized / designed touring windshield can increase the amount of wind buffeting and wind noise also. How well a specific windshield works for a person has proven to be a very subjective thing. Some prefer the constant "clean" air provided by a short windshield while others have noted the varying successes of just about every aftermarket windshield out there.

I have the HJC Sy-Max and stock windshield. Works fine for short trips or around town. If I was planning a long trip, a higher windshield would most likely come in handy. I would put my stock windshield back on after the trip though.

The lure of the spyder was the sporty looks. Adding tall windshields or permanent side bags detracts from those looks.

I have only ridden motorcycles but my final results were half helmet full windshield i use my fullface when it's cooler. i found it to be a much more enjoyable ride for me. this is also subjective. i would get both types of helmets you could use the one you prefer and let the passenger use the other. the windshield will make it a little warmer on the cool days also. for me it stopped all buffeting. i hate that!!

But, part of the beauty of Spyder ownership is the fact there are so many nice options available. If someone wants to go the 'full cruiser' look, it can be done. And, for us that like the more 'sporty' boy racer look, another great option! What a cool machine!

I wear a full face in the cooler weather and have the stock short shield on - no problem. I can't wait till summer where I don't have to wear the full face and have the short shield. I'm going to invest in some good goggles or something so I don't have to wear a helmet - I find it too constricting.
