There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Is it too much to ask a dealer to use Honda gasket?

I was going to ask the dealer to use Honda exhaust gasket when they put the engine back in my spyder but I am not sure how they would feel about it.

I would explain how much better the Honda gasket is, and I am sure they will understand. If they still won't do it find another dealer that will. Of course if the dealer sells Honda's also it should be no trouble either way.

Get the gaskets and show it to them...it is a superior product and it shows! I replaced mine before they were totally shot and I was surprised by the amount of wear and tear on them. The stock part is really crappy, esp. when comparing to the Honda gaskets...

:agree: They won't have a problem....

It is not matter of whether it's better or not but using non-brp parts.
I Know they are better. I am tired/wary of ALL my problems getting pinned by brp on aftermarket products, including hindle. My brp warranty Is expired now and western service contract seems to be looser than brp but... I don't know.
I was gonna get raceair system from freebob but I had a second thought and dealer thats rebuilding the engine confirmed my second thought.

IMO, whether your dealer would care about doing it would depend on what their policy is on installing parts on a machine. Those that have no problems installing aftermarket parts probably wouldn't say anything and maybe even encourage using a better part than the stock parts. Those that feel obligated to use stock parts no matter what or those that don't install any aftermarket parts probably wouldn't want to use the Honda gaskets.

Why did the dealer (and you) have 'second thoughts' about the raceair system???

BJT, I hear what you are saying. Some dealers are so "by the book" they refuse to put anything other than BRP parts on your machine. I don't know if BRP bullied them into that stance or they just don't want to take a chance on having a negative interaction with BRP behind installing a non-standard part. I know my dealer is pretty good about it, but I have not really done anything too out of spec.

Yep, my dealer is somewhere between the two extremes. They will install some other addons but really prefer to install BRP parts. They only stock a few non-BRP extras (like ESI risers) but only because BRP doesn't offer a similar product. One time last year, I brought up the question of them using the Honda gaskets on my Spyder when the stock ones wore out but he said they were going to warranty the gaskets so why not stick with the BRP ones. At that time, I agreed but now I would insist on the Honda gaskets or do it myself.

Copy that. The gaskets are one case where I would absolutely share your thought on the matter. I think I'm going to call my dealer up and ask them about this. It's just about that time for me anyway...

I am one who always asks if there is something I would like the dealer to do for me. The worst thing they can do is say no, and perhaps look at you a little funny. If they do it for you while putting your Spyder back together that would be great, but if there policy won't let them then you can always do it yourself.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

My dealer will install anything I ask them too, provided they don't feel as though it is a danger to me or the bike...
