Is it possible to install a Remote start on a Spyder?

Depends....

if you can circumvent all the requierments to start an RT and more so the se models. If left in gear you have to apply the brake and or the clutch. You need to press the mode button etc....and the usual question..Why..?? :dontknow:

Is it possible to install a remote start on 2012 RT SE5?

I am still trying to figure out when there would be an advantage to having a remote start.

Help me out here, maybe I am not thinking far enough outside the box, or I am missing the obvious.:dontknow::dontknow::dontknow:

When I ride, I turn on the key, I check a few things, push the mode button, start the bike, get the gear on, and by that time the bike is ready to ride.

Again, a simple question with a lot of opinions instead of answers. Yes, it has been done but there is a lot to it. Basically it has to have a go no go circuit to check to see if it is in neutral, after that it is a simple timer that allows enough time for the boot up to be completed. The rest is simple.
I have done some research myself as I think the "wow" factor would be great and it would be fun project. Is it necessary, no, but then neither are flames or flags put on the bike. We do accessories to be unique, a very human trait.
Do some searching in the forums, that is where I first learned it was possible.

Hello Marc,

That is easy, there are tuners around, that can write the Mode button, out of the starting sequence, search for "monster", there are solutions to your initial problem.
But on a sidenote, starting the bike and let it idle to get warm, is not the best way to heat up an engine, nowadays it's just good practice to start and drive, go gentle on the throttle for atleast 20km's, the get the oily bits on working temp.
But it sure is a interesting thing to have

Short answer is yes, question is if it is worth it. The bike would have to be in neutral for it to work. Mode button is just a pushbutton switch so you it would have to be part of the ignition sequence. It is not any difference then installing a remote start in an older stick shift car. You would also need to bypass the security key by disabling that in the programing or other methods.

I have the monster flash and the start sequence now is "turn the key on & hit start". So to me remote start is moot. Years ago, if I recall correctly, the proper way to warm up your ride was to start it and ride it not revving it up past 1/3 of its way to the redline RPM range until the normal operating temperature was reached. On water-cooled bikes that was easy to read but on air-cooled bikes that was about a mile or so. Or...........teach one of the kids to go out and start your ride for you. But, that may not be the least expensive way in the long run. LOL

I had a 2004 Artic Cat Pantera 600 EFI when I snowmobiled. It had a remote start from the factory. My riding friends would took great pleasure in teasing me when I used it which wasn't to often. Anything is possible, time-parts-money is all it takes. Good project to get your teeth into. If it's something you want go for it.
